David Stone - Real Secrets of Magic Vol. 2

The Effect

Volume 2 of a DVD series designed to not only teach magic, but to teach the theory side of table hopping.

Cost

£20-£25 depending on where you get it. It's (sadly) only available at http://www.ellusionist.com or from http://www.ihatedavidstone.com/

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

3-4 definately. Serious stuff.

Ellusionist says:

David Stone's volume-1 REAL SECRETS has won awards, and Stone himself has won the coveted FISM.

Finally, after the smash success of Volume_1, comes the sequel which was A FULL year in the making.

Majortom says:

I love it. The moment you press play, this reeks of quality, the editing, camerawork and post production is top notch. It makes this a very watchable DVD.
If you have the first volume you'll know what to expect. Lots of tips and advice on being a professional magician, cut between amusing sketches and gags.
The Performances are outstanding, Stone has so much more energy and character than a lot of Magicians today (almost as much as David Williamson).
The 15 or so effects vary from Cards, coins, silks, flash prductions, mentalism and even a goldfish production. They are almost all pretty tricky to pull off, but they are all very visual, and look very magical. My favourite being the production of a bottle of wine, followed by both of the performers shoes, absolute genius.
Finally the explanations section. This part, if you haven't seen it before, is silent apart from background music. Stone says nothing, just shows the moves slowly from a variety of angles. Some may find this hard to learn from, but this is not aimed at the beginner. I find them very watchable and almost hypnotic.

Overall:

Excellent, get it.

I found that with volume 1.

I would just play it in the background and just listen to the music while I practiced other stuff. Great music to listen to. I would love to have this music on cd.

Indeed, especially the music that plays over the explanation of the 3 card monte routine, and the one after it, Hierling or something.

I'm seriously considering this as no1 was brilliant and one of the best magic dvds I have seen. Sounds like a worthwhile purchase then.

This does look extremely promising, given Stone's reputation because of his previous DVD, amongst other things.
However, Is there anywhere else other than Ellusionist where you can buy the DVD? I realise there's a download, but I prefer to buy the DVD

If it's as good as Volume 1 then I'll get it. I've been performing the glass production quite a lot recently and I got a lot of ideas from David's coin work in the DVD. And MAN that was a funny and entertaining production. If volume 2 is more of the same then it's a done deal... I'll order it.

Oh dear :?

Not to worry - once it arrives you'll be very pleased with it - just as enjoyable, entertaining and educational as the first.

I must say, from the really 'Hollywood' -esque intros and title credits, I knew I was going to enjoy this.

Lovely work.

And as Ben says... JFBI

Man, the goldfish production is something else. In fact the whole thing is great. I intend to spend the next 3 months practicing the Mulberry four coin production, absolute class but tricky as heck (try doing a retention vanish with three coins in cp, and that's just for starters).

Does anyone know a UK supplier of the TT used in Duncan?

The only one I've found is from America and the shipping costs seem excessive.

I've also been looking for the ring box used in Ringbox, any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yeah, Alakazam do it, it's an effect by Arthur Tivoli and it's called Balloonofish. It's 25 quid but that's for the TT and a few other bits plus Arthur's routine so not quite as pricy as it sounds. Goldfish not included.
