Well, I ordered this today - and just for you that don't know (like me :? ), the price is now a meagre £18.40 (£16.50 + £1.90 p&p).

I'm looking forward to this - watch this space  .

I've not played with loops before and naively figured I could save some pennies by tying my own, so duly picked up a reel of Miseka's IET whilst at Davenport's yesterday.

So far it's taken me about two hours to create/cobble together three workable loops, not one of which has survived more than five minutes. :(

Methinks that for just a few pennies more I could've ordered the Stealth system with thread and doubtless saved a great deal of hassle and hair.

Ho hum.

(note to self: must consult wisdom of TM folk in future).

the loops I received seemed relatively durable and have only been braking after a week or so of daily use or when experimenting with heavy objects. Never had any trouble with loops breaking with forks, glasses or haunted deck tricks.

However, the prospect of walking around armed to the t*ts with these bad boys without fear of breaking them is most appealing. This is going to have to be a purchase.

set up my system, and working well. Making loops to the right size, but the loop snaps very soon after (usually first attempt at using it) Im using the silk work thread. I think the problem is that the knot comes undone when stretched. Any tips?

Thanks, Alex

Make sure the knot is completely tightened. Lift the last piece up with the wax and stretch it and the loop will tighten fully.

A tiny spot of superglue on the knot after tightening does wonders too. Only a tiny, tiny amount needed, cocktail stick perfect for the application.

Mesika elastics

Postby Fabian » Jun 21st, '08, 10:44

I have just recieved Mesika's thread for the first time from here on MagicMagic and I have a query...
I've popped the little cap off, and I can see this tube inside of the dispenser. It's got thread around it, but I look at the end of the strand and it's DARK black. It's thick and really dark. What more can I say! I can see it on my finger when it rests on it, because it stands out so much! Maybe I'm missing something here, and I have to strip it, but in the advert it says it's a "single strand" of the thread, and I have also never seen Mesika thread before, so I don't know if that's how it is meant to look. A few months ago I bought S.T.El.Th loops and some Silkworm thread, without ever having bought a packet of official loops because of people saying how expensive and fragile they were, but I managed to make Silkworm loops myself, and they were really invisible and tough, but now I've messed up the reel, and can't get anymore thread off of it, (probably only used 100 out of the 500 foot spool) so I decided this looked good, and saved up my pocket money for this.

But now I've got it, it doesn't seem like IET, it seems like ET, because I can really see it. With Silkworm thread, it was possible to see it, but only if you really looked hard, so I used a bright light to see it when tying loops. Now though, I have bought some thread that isn't even partially invisible, and it seems I've wasted my money. I haven't actually taken any off the tube yet, because I've seen it from just looking at the tip off it, because I'm actually not sure how I'd get it off even if it was invisible and I might even consider using it.
I guess I just get the end and put it through the little hole in the top, and around the metallic looking thing...
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could help me.
Does it need stripping? Do I need to try it out and see if it is invisible? Is it possible that I have a "dud" piece of thread? Am I right in saying what I said about taking out some thread? And, is the thread meant to be this F*****g black?!!!
Sorry for getting angry, but I feel I've wasted my money, so any help will be hugely appreciated.

Thank you,
Fabian Shaw
