Mental Safari

There was a request for a review of this here:

http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic17682. ... ght=safari

I got mine from Martin Breese International and it was beautifully packaged. The effect is really nicely made and perfect for close up mentalism.

Effect

A small wooden box is shown with a removable tray, subdivided into four sections, each with a small plaque of an animal: horse, money, elephant, and eagle. Under each animal is a serial number. Under the tray is a folded piece of paper with a prediction on it. The paper is placed in the box and the tray with the four animals is returned to the box. A participant selects one animal, removes it from the tray, and writes down the serial number. The tray is lifted out and the prediction is shown to have correctly identifed the animal and the serial number.

Any animal can be chosen, all the serial numbers are different, the prediction is placed in the box before the animal is chosen.

Review

The craftsmanship on this effect is superb! The box is a good size and the animals are beautifully cast with onyx eyes that sparkle a bit. The method is real easy and very clever.

In my view, the effect could work really well with an overall travel theme, which makes reference to a medicine man or shaman, who demonstrated the powers of mind control and animal attraction (or some such patter). The prop is only appropriate for close-up, but will fit nicely into anyone's repertoire. It will also play well for kids if presented it the right way.

Overall, this is a clever bit of kit and of high value given the care with which it has been constructed.

I was pondering over this for a while after looking at it on Alakazam's site. From the sounds of it, it's too small for stage which is what I intended using it for.
What is the exact size of the box?

I was looking at this a while back along with the Siam card box.

It does look superb and the box looks so ornate!!

I wont be buying this for a while as I promised to lay off the magic purchasing and concentrate on fixing up the house..

but it does look like a fantastic effect
