Kids' show forum?

Postby pcwells » Nov 1st, '07, 13:19

I'm sure this must have been asked several times, because it's such an obvious thing, but would it not make sense to have a forum dedicated to kids' shows and routines for kids' shows?

I'd certainly be interested.

Pete

I think the problem with this is it would really require sub forums for all types of magic to be created. Also I don't think that the level of posts directly relating to kids magic really have the volume to require their own personal forum here.

Spot on Pete - have a look at http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic6044.php for some previous discussion. These days we try to minimise the amount of different forums on TM otherwise it would get a bit like the Cafe and that's not a nice thought at all  !

How can you possibly say this until you try it? There are more entertainers around the world doing magic for kids than anything else. The Little Darlings area on The Magic Cafe is the most popular area on that site. Once the word got out that you had a special area here devoted to children's entertainers, I feel sure you would attract many new members! JR

Just a tuppence worth,
i have seen at least two requests for a kidlets forum over the last month, and alot (ok slight exaggeration) of discussion about kids performance.
I would have to agree that much of the posts etc on here are not of huge use to a kids magician, unless you want to be known as the boogey man.

Could it not be trialed? Or maybe it already has in the past?

Maybe have one thread on the support and tips forum, maybe sticky and see what the useage is after say 1 month?

Only a thought - its nice to share them sometimes.

Without sounding too rude, but why don't you go and participate there instead?

I would actually quite like a kid's forum here, BUT there is already a large, well posted in section I can flick through over there instead of starting completely from scracth here.

I don't think there should be a children's section here. Within three days it would be the Jolly Roger section.

ACtually the most popular place on the magic cafe is surprise, surprise the card trick section!

I wish they would get rid of that "step right up" section where nobody knows what they are talking about regarding the grafting business. It really is the blind leading the blind.

2 reasons.

1) I was banned for expressing my sometimes controversial views on the entertaining of children( I have only been doing it for 45 years!)

2) I found many on there were only interested in what flashy props they should buy to be a successful children's entertainer!

Fair points Roger, was just wondering!

Well, no, being banned for having an opinion isn't fair, but you know what I meant!
