here's an idea..... what if the first status change was down to mods to enable!!!!??? Only consistent and regular qualitative posters would then have staus changes enabled and they could then go on to progress thropugh post counts....

Kills off the post as much as you can to change status bug!! And shouldn't be too much work for mods as it would only be regs who get status enabled... not the hundreds of one trick wonders!!

No mod interaction on this yet??? I wonder if they are pondering.....

I could be wrong, but I can't see the mods having the time or the inclination to sort the wheat from the chaff in terms of quality of posts. People will post rubbish in order to boost post counts, regardless of whether the status is renamed or not; the fact that there is a post counter underneath the avatar is reason enough for some people.

You miss my point.... the mods wouldn't have to sort the wheat from the chaff as the quality posters would become regular faces so to speak.... the mods read just about all the posts between them. The regular good ones will stand out and then the mods could turn on status.

Another option is to make the first status post count change higher than it currently is.

Or as with the magicians only section there could be a minimum post count followed by a PM'd request to turn member status on......

These are just options with relation to the ubiquitous sods who will post and post to up status however I don't care about them because even without a manual override on first status so they do this to up status WE collectively know they are and will always remain a self-working gimmick junkie!

i like how you included gimmick junkie to show your ideas again subliminally.... anyway it would be a fun idea but its up to them i dont really care what mine is as long as it isnt gimmick junkie!!

Well current members would need to be upgraded from said junkie to relevant status according to post count!

I can honestly say I meant no reference to you..... took me a min or two to work out who LOMSTER was lol!!

what about posts that simply say "welcome to Talk Magic" (etc) didn't add to one's total? not a new idea, and not my idea, but one worth consideration.
