Behind the 8 ball

The Effect

The Blurb...
Here's a fun routine for the classic Two In The Hand, One In The Pocket. You approach your audience with a closed fist and ask someone to guess what's inside. Finally, you tell them..."8 Balls!" With that you open your hand to reveal three miniature 8 Balls. You place one ball in your pocket and then close your hand around the other two. In a wink, your hand is opened to reveal...8 balls, but three instead of two! Again, you place a ball in your pocket and again it appears back in your hand! Finally, you try one more time. But this time when you open your hand there's only one ball...but it's a full size replica of an 8 Ball!

£6.99 from

(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

1 = There are some sleights used but it is all very basic stuff and within reach of everyone really with a bit of practice

As part of my, seemingly, never ending search for an effect in which I can approach spectators with I saw this and purchased it.
For a classic effect such as this it is hard really to review the effect itself as most will already know it.
The routine itself is an excellent one that has plenty of close up audience participation and is a classic for a reason.
So this review isn't really about the effect itself as I'm sure this is covered in many other books and dvd's using all sorts of props.
What I would like to cover though is the props themselves. For your £6.99 you recieve some very nice quality little rubber 8 balls and a final load large ball all of which are your regular everyday matt black rubber balls.
I suppose what this version gives you is some scope for nice patter and naughty school boy humour if that's your bag.
They bounce quite nicely too

i would give it a good 8/10 as it is very cheap and does exactly what it says on the tin (or cardboard box in this instance). No this wont exactly set the world alight and have you harked as a conjuror of miracles but will really entertain your audience if given the right presentation.

Thanks for posting, I'm also always on the lookout for pretty quick fun intro effects. The twist of using those funky looking 8 balls of this classic combined with the price seem to have come right on erm... 'cue'.
