L&L Worlds Greatest- The Fabulous 3 Ball Trick

L&L World's Greatest Magic Series- The Fabulous 3 Ball Trick.

Price- I got mine for £13.50

Available from- I got mine in Tam Sheppards but come on, it's L&L- if you can't find it somewhere online, are you really a magician?

Difficulty- 3.5 Sleights etc, but it's not too difficult once you get into it.

Effect- The magician shows 3 balls which magically jump from hand to hand and invisibly travel from the pocket to the hand before disappearing completely (or maybe changing into a lime or something).

Review- This is a fantastic resource for a really nice compact slightly unconventional(ie not cards or coins) effect.
Johnny Thompson's two routines are excellent, and his explanations are very detailed. As well as the moves, he also gives some very handy tips for patter (especially at one point where he provides an old gag which is perfect for covering a certain move).
Fernando Keops' routine is pretty good, although I'm not so keen on how his crotch seems to be the unavoidable focal point of the routine. His explanation is qiute clear, but i found myself returning to the Thompson method.
Gary Oullet performs a routine to music, and while this insn't my sort of thing, he adds some very interesting ideas to the routine (as mentioned on the cover, fans of Slydini will appreciate this).
I wasn't so keen on Flip's 'whimsical' routine, so if you can't say anything nice...
The Vernon section is, predictably, fantastic. If you don't already own the Vernon series, then there is some advice on false transfers here that is, in my opinion, worth the price of the dvd alone. This is more of a conversation tone to the explanation of the routine, and it is a valuable addition to this disc.
Finally, David Roth gives his take on the routine- by this time I was a bit balls-ed out, but there are some really nice ideas and moves in amongst this routine.

Overall I think that the strength of this dvd lies in its variety- there are a couple of bits I wasn't so keen on in one of the Thompson routines (which I'm using as a rough template for my own routine), but I was able to find numerous alternatives to experiment with elsewhere on the disc. There's something for everyone here- even crotch obsessives!
In my opinion, for the price, this is a worthwhile addition to any magician's library.
9/10
