The Effect
In the Fall of 2002, David Acer embarked on a multi-city tour, beginning in Edmonton, Alberta, where he and magician/comedian Rick Bronson were asked to consult for and perform at the Edmonton Oilers Home Opener vs. The Philadelphia Flyers. This DVD begins three days before the game and takes you on the road with one of magics most unique personalities as he creates, performs and teaches original, off-the-wall tricks using cards, coins, candies, balls, a clothes drier, matchbooks and bottles, PLUS watch hilarious interludes, incidents, accidents, cameos, and clips from various TV shows along the way!
Youll learn:
Fresh Mint: Mint a piece of foil into a coin at your fingertips!
Coke Induced: A cap is removed from a Coke bottle and visibly changes into a beer-bottle cap, whereupon the Coke bottle is shown to have become a beer bottle!
The Montreal Transpo: An ingenious two-card transposition through a sealed envelope from the minds of David and Jay Sankey!
Unflappable: A jaw-dropping torn-and-restored matchbook!
ShadeShifter: A color-changing signed selection that looks like real magic!
Mitosis: Predict a cell-phone number during walkaround work, at someones home, or on stage! Plus Shift Happens, Repeat Offender, Mindjob, The Twirl Double, Rick Bronsons Spinner, The Drier Trick, High Invisibility, and more, INCLUDING A BONUS TALK-SHOW APPEARANCE AVAILABLE ONLY ON THE DVD!

Review
Having read David Acer's great book, Random Acts of Magic (which I took a chance on as it sounded so good), I took a chance on this DVD (as it looked so good). I also thought it would be nice to see some of the effects in the book performed by the man himself and it didn't disappoint.
Acer's delivery is down to earth and witty without the contrived wackiness that some magicians seem to think is entertaining. He's very dry and very funny. He's also an excellent magician who teaches the effects clearly and concisely.
Anyone who has considered wasting money on E's 'Shapeshifter' DVD needn't bother. Acer teaches it here and it's only a small part of the goodies contained on this disc. (He explains two applications for this move which are both worthwhile with one of them being a simple to do, but superb effect which will stun the layman)
Although card effects make up the bulk of the DVD there are also effects using matchbooks, mobile phones, beer bottle caps and coins, all worthwhile and all well taught.
There's so much material here and it's usable stuff, effects which you could perform to any crowd and will get a good response. I personally think that David Acer is a very underated performer and is becoming one of my favourites as I have found the material of his which I have purchased to be valuable and he's a funny chap. I have the urge to get hold of his other DVD's now!!!
The only word of warning I would give is that although there are some very simple effects which almost anyone could do, this material is not for the beginner as sleights are used which although are not difficult in themselves, require practice and with all magic you need to be able to perform to do this great material justice.
One of the effects which I have performed and learnt from RAM, I have fine-tuned after seeing DA's handling and it's one that has garnered a superb reponse and will stay in my close-up set.
I fully recommend this DVD due to the quality and the pure quantity of material it contains. Along with his book, you have some great material which will serve you well if you decide to give it the time it requires to perfect it and gives far more value than some overpriced packet tricks.
Hats off to Mr Acer, I would certainly not hesitate purchasing any other books and DVD's of his.
I must add that the only dealer in the UK I could find that sold his DVD's was
www.worldmagicshop.co.uk and their service was beyond excellent.
I recommend them too!!
