Ray Kosby's Impossible Close-Up Magic

Postby Mark Williams » May 10th, '08, 13:42

I just purchased this DVD, at a recent Lecture I attended. Let me say that there is some very strong magic on this DVD. Some of the effects are easy, while others will require lots of practice. I would recomend this DVD from Intermediate to Advanced performers.

The Bite Is basically a color changing apple routine. Ray presents this during another effect...not as a showcase item. I agree with Ray's handling of this effect. Believe me, your audience will notice the apple... changing color!! Ray's subtle touches on this effect, makes this DVD worth the price.

The Picnic Trick Is a Healed and Sealed routine with a Soda Can. Again, Ray's handling makes this a great addition to any performer's arsenal.

Side Winder Pretzel Ray has expounded on Paul Harris' card effect...and brought the idea to Pretzel Sticks. After some byplay with 'bending' the Pretzel Sticks, you eventually reveal they have transformed into a small twisted pretzel.

Silver and Bone This is a magnificent transposition of a Jumbo Coin and a regular one. Ray presents this effect with the Jumbo Coin penetrating the back of his hand and exchanging places with a smaller coin.

Rubber Nightmare This is Ray's take on The Professor's Nightmare...but, with Rubber Bands. You start with a very large rubber band and break off a piece. You then break off another piece displaying a large, medium and small rubber band. All bands are examiable at the end of the routine.

Square One This is Ray's fiendishly clever Matrix routine, where the coins assemble to one corner and then magically jump back to their starting places. This effect is also worth the price of the DVD and it is taught, using a couple of different camera angles.

There are a few more effects on Ray Kosby's Impossible Close-up Magic DVD, some which are demonstrated and you are given a link to a hidden PDF explanation. These effects are all very workable routines and can fill your repertoire nicely.
