Hi Gents,

New to the forum as I just come across it while doing some research on PostMentalism.

A few questions to the guys who have purchased the effect:

I have noticed that nowhere in the blurb about the effect do they mention what kind of prediction you make. Can you predict the actual results to a game, or just the winner?

I and a colleague have come up with a great way of achieving this effect, and we think it could be the same method as ALVO's. The only problem is we believe that you can only predict a winner and loser.

Also do you have to get the spectator to do something with the envelope before opening it? ie go to the kitchen

I look forward to your replys. I hope our method is completely different from that of Alvo's. All the best

You can predict an exact score, who scored, and the exact minute and/or second they scored if you wish

And nope, they can open it as the postie delivers it through the letterbox

After reading this thread I went to bed and spent some time trying to work out how I would go about achieving this effect myself, which is always a fun exercise in creative thinking.

After a few minutes I came up with a method which made me grin and which having re-read this thread must be the same thing. I only wish I had the imagination to have come up with it without reading about Stockman's effect.

if it is the same method, then you can back me up in that it is very clever indeed ;)

Since that also would make me sound very clever indeed, yes I definitely agree that it is very clever!

Seriously, yes, I'm very impressed.

This is a seriously powerful effect.

The method is deviously clever and clean and yet soooo dirty it gives me chills.

Handled well after a bit of groundwork by the performer it could well be one of the most mind-boggling experiences a spectator might ever be part of.

About every 60 mins I get another idea using this method and it thrills me to my bones! I love it.

How different is it from Knepper;s idea?

I don't have his version but Alvo does credit him rather directly both in the manual and on forums so I would suspect there are some distinct similarities.

Is timing important in this trick?

Do you have to be there for the opening of the envelope?

i like this alot - save yourself some money though, buy this and the poetry reading one from america, its about half the price...a 3lb fedex 3-5 day delivery costs around £25, so, if you save up or splurge on a hundred quid or so worth of magic, you're going to be saving a fortune...otherwise..you're looking at nearly £45 for the two...

anyway, you can predict anything with 100% accuracy....no switching involved, needed...you can even be filmed with a witness going along and posting your prediction (with no rushing back trying to fish it out with a coat hanger or anything)...

Does the mail has to be posted within 24 - 48h after having made the prediction, and how long in advance can you predict stuff?

well the post arrives the next day normally, unless you send it second class, so the thing that you predicted would have to happen in between you posting it and the letter arriving
