Signed Card Appearing In Box, Entirely Surrounded. by Beardy

Postby Lenoir » Jun 10th, '08, 18:08

The Effect
SIGNED CARD APPEARING IN BOX, ENTIRELY SURROUNDED!

Here's what it says on the tin.
A signed card appears inside a box amongst impossibly set conditions. Not only do the audience know beforehand, exactly what you are attempting to do, but they have surrounded you and signed the playing card. Yet, with all these set in motion, you push their card flush in the deck, make a magical gesture, and clearly show your hand empty, with fingers wide apart, as you pick up the card case with your fingertips, and remove their signed card. No Palming needed

I have yet to try this to a "real" audience, but if my mother counts, she was honestly confused, amazed, and asked to see it again. What did I do? I showed her again, with practically NO set up what so ever.

The description is accurate, no palming is needed, which is a great relief, and it the only possible way, as if they ask to see it again, your hands are going to be observed intensely.

Cost: £6.99 from

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Well it depends really. It is a 1-2. Actually a 1. There really is nothing to it. A lot of effects claim they are easy, and they are, but don't really give you what they say they will. This is different. It is oh so evilly simple, but very effective. It produces a 4-5 looking effect with minimum pain.

Review: Just because Beardy is a nice guy, I won't lean this review in his favour and just promote it purely.

It is a beautiful and deviously clever principle, that really, honestly is amazing. You show there signed card, place it flush with the deck, wave your hands (which are empty) and the card appears in the box a second later.

That's it. No silly moves, just a sneaky gimmick, which is barely a gimmick that works wonders. You can make it in..what...5 seconds? As long as you have the simple household item, it will take you less time than you will be gasping at the cheeky method.

Overal: 9/10
Taking away one, simply because it is just one effect. There probably are other effects that could be achieved, but not many. But for £6.99, you can't really go wrong!

In fact, for what you pay, you recieve 10 out of 10.
I'm gonna use this next weekend extensively Beardy, honestly, thank you very much!

Anyone else got this bad boy?

Sounds awesome and v.good value.

Do you use it as part of an ACR or is it just as good as a quick trick?

Thanks

I use it now as the ending for my ACR. If you purchase it, give me a PM and i'll send you my handling for the incorporation, but realistically, Beardies is probably better!

Thanks Wild Card.

One last question, have you got good reactions from this as a single trick with no ACR?

Spec chooses and signs a card, then it appears in the box even though they saw it being pushed in to the deck.

Its a great effect alone, but it can be compared to the whole Daryl's Ultimate Ambitious rope thing. Not in looks, effect or mechanics, but if you were to perform that on its own, people would be impressed, but at the end of any ACR, whether advanced or basic, it will still be effective.

I've performed it to a couple of friends as a stand-alone, and the repeat factor is what makes it so impressive.

I messed with the wrong Mentalist. But in honesty, after reading your name in the credits(you know what I mean) for The Fully Scripted Naked Book Test, I was immeadiatly very impressed! Not to patronize, nor to say I wasn't already impressed with your knowledge.

I reckon you'll like ti Iain (may I call you that?), if you like card stuff!

Oi, Beardy, enough of this "free for those who can afford it, very expensive for those who can't" malarky! If it isn't worth the magic glitterati paying for it like anyone else I'll take my custom elsewhere :P
