Tips

Postby SamD465 » Mar 1st, '09, 21:10

Hi, my name is Sam and this is my first post. I've just ordered the Gecko and it should be arriving on the 3rd of March. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for the presentation of the effect. Just PM me if you do.

Thanks.

Arrived

Postby SamD465 » Mar 3rd, '09, 18:39

My Gecko has arrived today and I am very pleased with it. As I am new to magic ( not even a year of experience :( ), and because I have dyspraxia (which affects my coordination) I have trouble with some slights and tricks. I am trying not to expose to much about it to anyone whojust wants to know who the trick is done, so I'm just going to stop here.

If anyone can give me advice or help me in any way or form, just reply to my post or PM.

Thanks again, Sam

I wasn't very impressed with my Gecko as when I played the DVD (even through it had the right picture on it) it turned out to be a documentary about Vietnam veterans who ride motorcycles. :?
I returned it and got the right DVD, still not too impressed with it.

Re: THE DRAGON BY JASON RING

It just came out in Februarys Genii Mag (Page 24 $30.00 dollars American) Takes a bit to put together when you recieve it, which sucks. Understandable I suppose with everyones hand size being different. I'm Spoiled I guess!

But credit is due in that they solved two major problems with all the others of its type. In that you can set it up on the fly without looking during your performance. As an additional option you can appear to explode the objects after vansihing them, startling those watching covering any chance at noise being a factor. I am still rusty but, the potential is wide open for all kinds of uses. Now that the Dragon can be summoned in the middle of your rountine without skipping a beat. If I were to rate this product I would give it four out of five stars. The initial set-up is somewhat frustrating, but the end result is a superstar product. And who doesn't like scaring the skeptics with a harmless mini-explosion!

seems to be a number of these divices out there. I dont own one but am interested hence me reading all the threads on the gecko, the bat, the dragon bang vanish, the raven, black widow etc...
Problem is i dont really want to buy one only wishing later i had bought a different one, or being totaly disapointed! I realise your not suppose to give anything away but which is value for money? im hearing so many mixed reports. perhaps someone could pm me if it needs to be hush hush.
Many of you said you bought the gecko for £25 however ive only seen it for £40 total difference in price. The guy that paid £45 i gather thats with the p+p as on the website its £40.

I know its magic but dont you ever wonder about spending money on something that you dont know what your getting?
yours, interested.

review- the gecko by Jim Rosenbaum

Postby samfairweathermagic » Jan 29th, '12, 01:59

Just a short review as their isn't much to be considered. The Gecko cost about £50 online and i must say is a hump of s*** its advertised to be a miracle and i must say the effects do look incredible but when you receive the trick you spend about an hour fumbling around adjusting the gimmick which is not invisible it it can be seen very easy as you work close up if performed well it can be good but it is clunky and useless i do not want to spend £50 pounds on something i could actually make at home it is rubbish and i would not recommend buying it

i agree it way to much and could be performed allready and made at home without being fiddled around with

I'm thinking of getting the gecko, but I already have a topit. Would it be worth it?

The two are nothing alike so there's really no comparison. Having said that, if the posts here on TM are anything to go by, things like The Gecko, The Raven, Spider Pen and other whiz bang wonder items tend to be bought, checked out, then consigned to the Bermuda Triangle - aka that drawer/cupboard where you shove all your long forgotten magic stuff!

I own a gecko. I use it for one reason and one reason only. I use it for a coin vanish before I go into a signed coin nest of wallets routine. I find it works very well, it's easily adjustable and I've never had a problem with it. If you want to vanishe someone's phone and produce it then you're barking up the wrong tree!

What people consistently fail to point out about the gecko is that you can't reproduce what you vanish!!!!! not unless you hide for a bit!!

I had a gecko and sold it, the clothing requirements just didn't work for me and I couldn't get it not to flash. My raven still gets a lot of use on the other hand.
