The Effect: The magician removes a pack of cards with a bright yellow 'Prediction' sticker over the front. He removes the cards, spreads them face up to show that they are all different, cuts the cards a few times, and either asks someone to pick a card face down, or think of any number between 1 and 52, and deals the cards face up down to this number, and puts the chosen card off to the side face down.

The magician squares the cards up, puts them away in the case (again flashing Prediction), and asks them if they believe in superstitions like stepping under ladders, or saying hello to magpies etc, finally asking whether or not they think the number 13 is unlucky. The magician pulls out another pack of cards, this time with a big red sticker with the word 'Thirteen' written along it. He removes the cards, and deals 12 cards face up, the thirteenth card is put next to the prediction face down.

Wouldn't it be amazing if the random card you selected matched the thirteenth card in my lucky pack? The cards are turned over, and of course, they both match.

The blurb states:

Prepare to blow people away with Thirteen.
You will laugh out loud when you see both the gimmick and the method for this brilliant piece of magic. Already being called the trick of 2008, do not miss this.

The perfect card at any number, 100% correct everytime. No force, a different card everytime. A brilliant method and gimmick that allows you to perform this classic effect. No outs, Only one deck used, Resets itself everytime, Always bang on the card.

An incredible piece of mentalism, great gimmick, Simple to do, with MAXIMUM impact. Perfect for strolling and stand up performers.

highest recommendation, this is killer.

1, very easy, you can perform this within minutes

Review: This is a nice little trick, it took me a while to get my head round the principal (which, like all the best tricks, is an old one, but a very good one), like the blurb says, only one deck is used. The cards themselves are not gimmicked themselves, and you can freely spread them to show them, but you can only cut the cards, not shuffle them.

The construction of the card box is very nice, and works on a similar principal to Paul Harris Deep Astonishment (in that the same special something is used in the case - the cards themselves are not gimmicked as such), but this is only for showing the pack as 'Prediction' or 'Thirteen'. It's very nice, and very clean.

The trick is perfect for table hopping (providing you've got a free pocket), as the reset is instant (although you don't particularly want to do it in front of people).

The instructions are easy to follow and clear (only given on DVD), and the quality of the video is more than acceptible.

Overall: A very nice, clever trick, it's slightly limiting that the cards cannot be shuffled before hand, but the spectator can cut them, and view them face up if requested. Slightly pricey, but a nice principal, which many of you will understand, and could well have many other uses. 8/10.

I actually used this as an opener for a repeat show.
The DVd teaches many handlings.
The key is to get some time delay so it seems like there are two decks in play.
I used the magicians insurance policy, 52 on 1 ect..
It got great reactions
