Hello,

I havent seen many magic dvd's so hopefully someone else will be able to give you more info on contents compared to others.

I found it highly amusing seeing a younger DB with a lot more hair.

The first half is a "show" type piece which covers lift, Smoke, Pleophoria(sp?), a duel effect trick (dont know its name). coin bending and reading and maybe one or two others.

The second half is the lecture, and explaination of pleophoria(sp?)
Some of it is along the same lines as pure effect type stuff, as some of the effects are mentioned in that book. Talks about presentation etc.

I enjoyed it, but mainly for being able to put a visual to the pure effect book, and a chuckle at the huge amount of hair.

Hope this helps.

Never mind the hair, what about that spectacular, Max Maven beating beard concoction? :)

i believe the dual reality routine is called "reminiscence"

it's a good dvd, very little is explained in comparison to most but the routines are secondary to listening to Derren talk about mentalism, although i suspect this section is a little out of date now.

Never mind the beard, if my mentalism memory serves me well....he wears velvet!!!

It is a good video though, nice accompanyment to Pure Effect, I suppose it's what Skullduggery is to 7 Deceptions only Derrened up a bit.

I agree - i had to chuckle to myself when I saw the younger Derren on this DVD. His thicker hair and beard are pretty funny......and yes he IS wearing velvet. Purple velvet no less!

I read Tricks of the Mind in which Derren discusses a moment from his performing past, where he describes his appearence - He said he used to have an 'Emperor Ming' goatee, purple waistcoat, with a fob watch.....to which he compared himself as looking like a "gay time-traveller".

So yes, aside from the somewhat comical appearence of Derren. The DVD itself has some intresting points. Derren's thought on Mentalism are worth remembering, and the trick that he does expain is pretty good too. It's a deck memory demonstration which I thinks looks pretty fair.

It's definatley worth watching, but I think it should be about £10 cheaper though. However, it certainly deserves a healthy 7 out of 10.

I have watched it twice and everytime I watch it I learn something new.
Sadly an explanation to Lift and reminiscence are not included

I found it as an alternative to his book Pure Effect (Which is also a very good thing to buy)

I spent countless hours trying suggestion, read the method and was so dismayed I kicked my volunteer!
