"Liam Montier-UV-Ultaviolet"

WHAT THE WORD ON THE STREET SAYS....

Effect: This is the latest DVD from Liam Montier and the Big Blind media company. Like all there DVD's this one is no exception, brilliant effects presented fantastically!
This DVD explores the unknown world of ultra violet light!

Description: Liam Montier takes you into the amazing world of Ultra-Violet!

With your special UV light "hidden" in the plain sight on your keyring, and pen in your pocket, you'll be ready to unleash mind-melting magic at ANY TIME!

Combining the amazing properties of the UV light and the UV marker, your magic aresnal will be stuffed to the gills with great material.
And best of all, the gimmicks do all the work for you.

Over the course of 90 minutes Liam Montier and Owen Packard teach you more craziness with the UV gimmicks than you'd have thought humanly possible.

Your creative juices will be gushing after you witness tomfoolery with playing cards, forearms, watches, coins, business cards and anything else Liam can get his hands on.

All props are supplier with the DVD

WHAT I SAY....

Well I would like to start with opening the package that this was delivered in...I opened my padded letter and inside I found my UV DVD, instantly this thing screams second to
none on production values, with its sexy cover, graphically thought out and has a clever "memoirs of an invisible man" kinda feel to it...

Big Blind Media certainly are a slick competetor for other Magic companies who produce dvd's. The dvd cover gets 10/10 and Ive not even opened this yet...!!!!

After the rather flashy dvd opening, the menu pops up with the usual, Menu -Effects- Routines explained etc....

Now I feel here that Im not giving anything away by saying this uses U.V ink here people! so most the effects your doing will already set up but invisible to the spec...
(If the title dont give that away then, sorry for any expo lol)

Now the effects are both performed and explain sat around a nice bar stool table, studio back lighting helps keep the room dark enough for the UV torch to work but light enough to
see what Liams upto....A very clear and concise explaination follows each trick, and none is particulary taxing to any level of magician...However dont now think this is an
amateurs effect! Oh no I performed this saturday night much to a rapture of appalause....

Now the great thign about these effects are theres so much more you can do with it....Liam gives you an open door of oppurtunities (feel free to quote that lol)

.....I think off my head there is about ten effects, mainly card based, on the DVD although there is a downloadable free pdf from Big Blind at request for further reading.

The effects get 8.5/10 the reason for not a ten being that although this is fresh ideas the idea that its still a pen and a uv light isnt new gimmic wise...

TO CONCLUDE....

I feel that both Magicians and mentalists can defo fit this into their act......as I said I performed this sat eve and it wet down very well, although Im afraid to say i used none of
Liams effects, in a way thats great that Ive already thought of so many things this has to offer....This shud defo be CUPS if your not cured yet...its great, plus its keyring based you
can always have it on you!

BORING BITZ....

Its £19.99...from Mr Nardi at http://www.alakazam.co.uk/

MY EFFECT-

So at weekend I decided to test run Liams gizmo....I didnt want to use his effects as I wanted to see what else was possible with this effect....

I was walking up to folk and asking them to either pick/think of a card....have them hold my hand, and then go on to tell them about the blue lights you get in the toilets to stop
drug users shooting up, as they cant see the veins......(ok thats dark but it worked great) as they held my hand I got them to grip tighter so eventually after the story
their veins are very prominent....I then followed their veins with the uv light and as the light came down their arm and wrist then across their hands and on to my mine,
I then started to shake the light around my wrist as specks of white started to appear...until eventually the light came to a stand still on my wrist and in my veins read their card....

Now this may sound lame and just a simple force with a uv marker, but bl**dy hell the reactions I got where unreal...To be fair I got better reactions from that than some of my other
effects Ive been performing ages! Just goes to show simplicity is always best....Oh and Ive called the effect "Pulse"....you heard it hear first.........

MASSIVE BIG THANKS TO LIAM FOR YET ANOTHER GEM................

NOW GO MY PRETTIES..FLY....FLY AHAHAHAHAHAHAH...............(go buy)

Have to agree with the review above... I love this DVD; not just because I am a bit of a BBM junkie, but I think they put out very practical effects that can be used in real world situations.

I have performed a similar effect as described above in bars and pubs but have used the idea of drinking a truth serum that will reveal the card... get yourself some tonic water as this glows superbly under UV light (so does cat's urine but I don't recommend that for a minute), do your force and magic stuff, patter a bit about the serum and show its UV properties... down it (add gin if you want!) and go on to do your reveal. Get's great reactions.

Enjoy!

p.s. ringworm apparantly shows up under UV light so I hope nobody has any embarrassing situations whilst performing!!

I just checked this out and the demo is pretty good. I am guessing basically the ID concept, but I like the IDea of the UV light. That's not a bad price for the light, pen and all the other ideas. This might be something I'll pick up

Slightly old thread, but as this DVD is new to me, I thought I'd add my bit...

I have to agree with the above review, it is all very nicely put together, very slick.

What sold me on this was seeing an ad where Liam performed "Invisible" It's not hard for a magician to work it out, so I knew exactly what I was going to be getting (in truth, I could have just bought a uv pen and light and made it myself...) but as there's more tricks on the DVD, it seemed like the decent thing to do :)

"Invisible" is certainly the stand out trick here! It's lovely! I've only had the chance to perform it a couple of times, but I really like it :) One of the things I like about it is that it's so unexpected. My deck is gaffed for this trick now, but it is fully examinable! I can do a whole routine of other stuff, chuck in Invisible, then carry on with some other card things (after putting a "new" selection card back in my wallet) ... or just not do Invisible if I decide and no one is any wiser! At a push, under good light, if you look really closely at just the right angle, you can sort of make out the uv pen marks... but I've scribbled on my main working deck and had no problems at all!

The other tricks are ok, some better than others. Liam says on the DVD that Invisible is about the only one he does now, and a couple of the other tricks do feel a bit like fillers. That said, there's a nice little business card effect that Cameron Francis came up with that I can see myself using at some point in the future, and there's a prediction effect called Sucker that I think I'm going to try out tonight. It's certainly one where it can be "performed" and really bought to life!

Even though I knew exactly how the main effect worked, I have no regrets at all about buying this. It gives my card things a differnt angle, and by it's very nature, there is no "gimmick" to hide, you're left clean and really, once the light is attached to your key ring, and the prediction card is in your wallet/card box etc, there's nothing extra to carry round!

Overall, I like this a lot!
