Thanx for the advice I probably will buy the wallet too if it enhances the effect.

After purchasing both heirloom and the wallet, can I just say how impressed I am with both the effect and workmanship. I think it may take a while to get my patter right, but my other half is used to me wittering on to myself and usually ignores it now.

Interesting effect, like the old photo. I am assuming that it would be ok to say that that's my professor's great grandfather from jersey in the pic.

Otherwise my spectator is gonna say, 'hey, your uncle doesn't look japanese' or something.. :)

I'm bloody annoyed - got this trick today for my birthday (or in fact yesterday now) and wanted to perform it straight away as have a job this weekend. I even had a letter mocked up in advance and ready to go (just needed to age photos).

Can't ruin the effect for people who don't know KK but I didn't receive all the stuff I needed! Furious!

Hmmm...

Postby JD » Jun 5th, '08, 10:32

I have got this trick along with the wallet and was just thinking of the patter that comes with this trick on my car journey in this morining and I'm confused about something. Maybe I'm just having a blonde moment but can someone help? I don't think I'm exposing anything as what I am talking about is in the sales blurb.

Anyways, the story goes on about uncle Charlie and his lucky card and that you found an old photo of Charlie with a card. If the spec doesn't get a direct hit (those of you that own the effect will no what I mean) then you move on to the other spooky prop to get your hit. Correct?

BUT my thoughts are that if you have just wove the tale of Charlie and his lucky card and that the old photo is of his lucky card then the relevation at the end wouldn't make sense. Yes the other prop gets you your hit but why on earth would Charlie want his photo taken with a random card that isn't his lucky one??? Especially if its the 'sad' end to the story! I mean I wouldn't want a photo taken with a horse that won the Grand National if I'd just lost everything on the horse that came in second! You wouldn't want a memento of that!

Maybe I'm thinking too much about this and if this has already been covered or I'm making no sense then please excuse me but I just don't want to perform it and have the spec (which my mates will do!) say 'Well why have you got a pic of Charlie and a card that isn't his lucky one?'

Can you see my point?

Hope someone can help and if I am revealing too much then just say and I will edit it, I really don't mean to and don't think I am. I'm just confuzzled is all! :?

I think you're misunderstanding the concept, JD. He is ALWAYS holding his lucky card in the photo.

Man, it's really hard to talk about this without potentially exposing things. Perhaps a pm to better explain?

Heirloom

Postby rivered » Sep 7th, '09, 11:41

I have been using heirloom for the past couple of months and i would say this is easly in my top 5 favourite tricks.I have performed this countless times but on a few occasions have had a problem. Some get so caught up in the story about my uncle charlie they start to believe me thinking what a great story, they totally miss the thought that this may be a trick and i may be fabricating the story. Then to my amusement they think they are the clever one to pick the lucky card not me !.or that it was just a coincidence .This then leads to me scatching my head not them..
Has any one else experienced this and do you let them walk away thinking that nothing sussuspicious has happened ?.

I'm so pleased people like/liked Heirloom.

At 'The Session Convention' and at Blackpool this year, we are releasing our new effect 'Legacy'. Personally I believe this to be even better than Heirloom and certainly much more fun to perform. What's really lovely about this is the quality of the props you get: A Custom Wallet, Beautifully aged playing cards etc.

And if you see me at The Session or Blackpool and pick up a copy, ask me about a sweet little 'Bonus' effect I figured out recently - it's a really nice effect you can perform after 'Legacy' sometimes that will make you smile!

Cheers,

Jamie.

I'm a big fan of Heirloom. It's always in my wallet and used at those times when it seems just right to do so. In fact, I am a fan of Colin and Jamie's work and look forward to seeing Legacy.

Are you at The Session? Definitely hunt me down - I'd love to show you the effect...

Can't wait for the convention - brilliant lineup yet again!

Cheers,

Jamie.

Hi Jamie,

I wasn't at the session, but I would be interested any info on Legacy. I love Heirloom and use it sparingly, for those special moments. Can't wait to see what you chaps have cooked up now...
