Hi Ray

Now that is a question that I don't know the answer to. You may be wright but then again...............

Michel credits a number of influences and states that he has been developing this for some 30 years so there may well be some influences in the packet somewhere.

Now that the dust and adrenaline has settled on this item, can anyone please return to comment on it?

Those that were enthusiastic early adopters - are you still using it?

Can anyone advise on the practicality and limitations of the thing?

What are the wardrobe constraints?

Is it something that's ready to use again and again in a table-hopping environment, or does it need to be locked and loaded in private after each use?

Thanks again,

Pete

Hi Pete

I'm still using mine depending on the type of performance that I'm doing.

You'll need a jacket but the device can be 'disengaged' in a couple of seconds which then allows you to remove your jacket without the device being noticed. When you pop the jacket back on it takes a few seconds to re-engage it. That's it on the wardrobe contraints.

I'll PM you with some additional detail.

Did anybody catch Michel's lecture @ Blackpool (on Holdouts / Invisible Hand) - I thought it was possibly the most enlightening and informative lecture this year!

It's probably the closest you'll get to actual magic.

What a wonderful thread (if that is the right word). I've never been so baffled and/or excited.

I have almost no idea what this is (am hoping it is something more than a raven with knobs on ["make your own device from scratch or by adapting a Raven"--dat8962) but I intend to buy one regardless.

I have as I needed a unit with longer reach than the original and it doesn't use a 'raven' type method. A decent fishing ledger and some mylon thread will get you started if you know the method.

Thanks for that.

I'm right in thinking you can't use this device in, say, a short sleeved T-shirt.

You're right. Ideally you need a jacket but it could be adapted for a long sleeve shirt.

Thanks for that. I'd mostprolly be in a whistle & flute anyway (forgive the cockney) but wanted to check that this device is what I think it is.

Will buy the device and the VDVs when I have the cashooly.

It was a very enjoyable lecture although it's probably something i'll never use partly due to me always having sleeves rolled up when performing. He went into everything from history to uses & routines. Every time you saw the load from behind it was like seeing a brand new gimmick even though it's relatively ancient. I can definitely see the appeal & uses.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, I watched Michel lecture on this in Blackpool this year, and Antonio Romero give a lecture last year on his version of the same device. Whilst Michel is clearly a genius with a h*****t, I think Romero's is better built - more versatile, more cleverly engineered. It is slightly bulkier, and more expensive, but I think you get what you pay for.

I'll write a proper review of Romero's at some point. It's amazing.

If you are talking about hold outs, the best plan is to get as much information as you can and then mix and match.

Personally, I have the Vernet DVDs, which are a gold mine of information, as well as a Romero Perfect Holdout that has been customised with the business end of a Super M and my own lock design.

Tools like these are very personal - find what works for you and adapt it.

Awesome. The Vernet DVDs sound like a good starting place.

On Michel's DVD's does he teach the ball and paper bag routine? I saw it in his lecture at Blackpool this year and it was amazing.
