Just a reminder in case you may have forgotten as to why it's called "magic".

I read somewhere that this is based on an earlier incarnation of Davenports.

there should probably be an updated version then, with a mysteriously smug and irritating, unhelpful teen clerk who utterly ignores the boy's questions with total disdain. shop coming complete with a magical lack of stock of any particular item you came in for.

The Magic Shop

Postby Allen Tipton » Sep 12th, '08, 14:01

:D Many thanks Paul for putting this great story on the Forum. I haven't seen it since it terrified me as a lad in Grammar School years ago.
Took me months to go into a Magic Shop. Marvellous to have a complete copy again.

You should ALL read 'The Man Who Was Magic' by Paul Gallico ( The Poseidon Adventure, The Snow Goose etc) First published in 1966 by Wm Heinemann Ltd.. Mine is the Pan Books paperback from 1968

Paul G certainly sized up magicians, their foibles and faults very well indeed as well as providing great hints about keeping Magic Simple, in his very readable & enjoyable story.
:D
I see there was a copy on E Bay this last week.
