This topic is ridiculous, describing a condition that doesn't exist!

I really need everything I have purchased and this included the sub-trunk, Zig-Zag woman, Disecto arm, leg, toe and nose-hair remover!

The various purchases on ebay (on average one a week for past two years) can all be defended as everything (even the stuff still in the boxes) is important to my act (which I will get down to writing once I finish reading my latest Merlin's catalogue).

I would continue but my latest delivery from Trick for Truth is just coming down the drive (I can see Bob, my local ANC delivery man coming - see magic even let's you make new firends outside the fraternity :-) ) and I need to go and get it so I can get back to the ebay item I'm watching (only 15 minutes to go).

CUPS indeed,

Vic

Well I know you wont find one in the following catalogues (or web sites!):

Davenports, Merlins, magic tricks.co.uk, emagictricks,co.uk, tricks for truth, KBmagic, nagic nevins, Magick2go, topsecretmagic.co.uk, alakazam.

Who says I'm ill?

Good news, my straigh jacket is so large I don't have to escape, I fall out of it :-),

Good news folks (or bad news if you're a magic supplier) there's now a voluntary support group called CUPS Anonymous. As soon as you get that uncontrollable urge to buy something, you ring one of the other suffers and they come round to your house and get roaring drunk with you.
(I know that's an old one but so am I  ).

Vic, without a shadow of a doubt, that is one of the funniest posts I have EVER read on here. I am close to wetting myself laughing right now. This is such a great thread.

I have and I've only been buying stuff for a month or two...

I think I just went overboard...I ordered Free Will before my deck of Vipers even arrived .

Box full of stuff, but lots of fun finding out the trick.

Does anyone else get a rush when they read how a trick is performed?

Cheers

I suffered from C.U.P.S. for years and ended up with about 20 books, a dozen videos and DVDs, and over 200 card, coin and other close-up tricks. I have spent thousands of pounds over the years and eventually had to stop due to lack of space in my miniscule flat. (Not to mention a forthcoming marriage and all the work that entails).

Now we live in a slightly bigger flat I have been cured. I only purchase a fraction of what I used to and I will only get what I know I will actually use. 95% of my previous purchases are gathering dust in the attic and will probably never see the light of day, which saddens me somewhat. At the moment, I am working on putting a card routine together with a few select tricks I have recently purchased. But most of my effects will be performed with a normal deck of ungaffed cards, which is just the way I like it.

I only managed to cure myself of C.U.P.S. because I simply could not afford to keep buying magic paraphernalia anymore, due to having to help pay for our wedding, not to mention saving up a deposit for our new home. So my advice for all sufferers of C.U.P.S. is this: get yourself hitched and buy a new house! It worked for me...

...briefly. Now I've joined these forums and I've got the itch again. I don't know whether to  or

How can getting married be a cure? I was married when my c.u.p.s started.

She got shoes and handbags, I got gimmicked coins - what more can I say.

Just think, one day you'll have your own show on Channel 4 (or LiveTV if you unlucky), and be making millions of pounds re-hashing tricks that the general public have no idea can be purchased for less than £50 on internet....

Anyway, thats my argument for spending money on tricks (I like to think of them as presents to myself)

Cheers
