Ipswich Magical Society Convention
Oct 26th 2008

Tickets are now available. Full details can be found on the website.

Lectures by
Mr. Biscuit (aka Martin Cox). As well as being the hard man of magic, Martin also is an incredible children’s performer.

Canadian Mentalist, James Biss. Known for his book Messing with Minds, the Impressionable Mind Board and several other marketed effects. James will also be giving a workshop the day before to a limited number of people – so if you are interested – please book early. This is James’ first time in the UK, so it is a unique opportunity.

Max Somerset – from TV’s Max Magic and The Sorcerers Apprentice. An incredible magician and inspiration to all performers.

The Gala Show includes the above names, plus Scott Penrose, Michael Pearce (Comedy Juggler), Ashley and Wilma (Serious Komedy) and Michael J. Fitch.

There will also be a close up session – but I can’t reveal all the names yet – but there will hopefully be a surprise special guest…

The day is always an amazing day of magic – and a great place for magicians to meet. Hopefully we will see a lot of Talk Magicers this year.

for full details see the website

Maybe I'll try and get here again this year :-).

Mizu is quite a nice place and I do recommend it myself. (Big portions of food though. I'm a big eater and I couldn't finish the bowl!)

Mizu is great isn't it. That is where I have my lunch on the day. The owner Patrick Cheung is also a big fan of magic - as are the staff there and may o them attend the gala show in the evening.

Glad to see you have Michael Pearce back again, he was a riot last time! And if you have Scott Penrose then it will be a masterclass in style. I recall the last one he did, climbing into a Tuxedo to do the afternoon lecture and every move was with the minimum of effort but with the maximum of thought, style and purpose. Any chance that Max Somerset will bring Joanna the Psychic piano  ?

I have just had it confirmed that Will Houstoun and John B. Born (yes you heard - John B. Born) will be performing close up at the convention.

They are both brilliant guys and their close up magic is - well, I am confident in saying they are two of the very best in the world at the moment.

Quite possibly this will be the best close up session of the 21 years we have been doing the covention!

Ahh, a friend of Wayne Clancy - it will be good to meet you. You are right - the close up sessions look like they will be exceptional this year.

Will you be staying for the evining show?

Its going to be a great line up - I'm especially looking forward to Scott Penrose's new routine, and seeing Michael Pearse again. Plus of course it will be interesting to see what Max Somerstet does on stage.

And as a mentalist myself - I will be interested to see James Biss's act. His Friday night sessions in Toronto get great reviews.

The bad news is that Martin Cox has just cancelled and will not be appearing at the Ipswich Magical Society Convention.

The Good news is that we have just booked John van der Put.

John is an amazing close-up and stage magician and is someone who I am proud to have with us on the day.

In the evening John will be perfoming his legendary, "Piff the Magic Dragon" act.
