Must have books

Just a though, as most people tend to recommend RRTCM, Wilsons and Bobo's quite often, does anyone think that a review of them should be stickied into the books review section?

Quite easy to do - any other thoughts/opinions/suggestions?

That's a good idea. Add 13 Steps while you're at it, Mandrake. ;) Oh, and Mind, Myth and Magick. Very underrated book if you ask me.

Maybe just 1 stickey then with links to some of the "Must Reads"? At least it won't take up half a page of stickies.

Though, new members ignore most of the stickies as it is (I wonder if that's because there's so many in so many areas?) and anyone that's been around will know the books in question....

In the end I'm sure it'll turn into a big question about what books to include, no one will agree, and we'll all go back to plugging Mark Wilson and Bobo - maybe mentioning 13 steps to anyone that says they're interested in Mentalism...

A while ago there was a thread going where we listed what we thought were good places to start for various types of magic. I can't find it now, but I'm sure it's out there.

Ropes
Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks
Karl Fulves Self Working Rope Magic

Silks

Karl Fulves Self Working Hankie Magic

Sponges
Spongeball Took Kit

with the addition of:

"The Encyclopedia of Sleight of Hand and Magic" by Nick Einhorn

Perhaps stick a sticky in the Introductions thread highlighting the 3 main ones as recommended starting reading and then maybe some other reading after that.

Would it be better there or in reviews?

Could some of the other stickies go in other sections or unstickied? The scam one in miscellaneous is quite old now and would be better in the trading post anyway. Maybe a new neatened up version of "getting started in magic" in support and tips instead?

I posted a first attempt in the Introduction but I'll probably change it a lot over the coming days.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Any chance you could extract and list the books here please? Same goes for anyone else who has posted a list, if we get them all here in this thread then it'll be far easier to produce a distilled list.
