Ian,

You posted while I was still writing my waffle, so agree it is down to the mods, though there is no reason why others can't give opinions either way. I have given mine, plus answered some points, so will leave this thread for now.

( Collective sigh of relief from mods. )

I my self have asked for a childrens entertainer section, and in the lack of one I have posted many posts in the miscellaneous and support sections and have been able to get the help that I needed.

However, I am all for a new section as it would make things easier for those of us who practice as childrens entertainers. I also agree that it will bring more members to TM. I have found that I like the feel and the atmosphere of this forum mor than others, thats why I joined.

I find it odd that a mentalist would question having a children's section on here, when there are so many seperate areas for mentalism. Your argument about x amount of posts applies to the new sections that are added there.

Children's magic and entertainment is huge, plus, just like mentalism, it has different needs to suit that audience.

The difference seems to be we are asking, in the correct place, which doesn't appear to have happened for the mentalism section.

Before people think I am having a dig, I'm not. Just explaining that maybe some of those that do have access to the FIVE mentalism forums, should think before they start questioning why a large, specialist section, shouldn't have just ONE section for themselves.

Hope this explains our frustration and needs a bit more.

Lommy, I understand your point about different areas and I did ask the question soon after I joined TM. It was pointed out that if close up was put in it's own group, people would start asking it to be split into coins, cards etc. At present, the bulk of the posts do seem to be either close up or general magic. Illusions don't appear to have that many posts, at any given time. There IS a very large base of children's magicians and entertainers, but wouldn't say that there are enough stage or illusionists posting to warrant a new section.

Remember, it is an open access area we are asking for, so you would be free to look and post at any time.

I thought I said something I guess I forgot to post it...

I have no problem whatsoever with a "Children's Magic" section. I thought I said something in a previous post. Sorry if I didn't make my point clear.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Back again, but only to ask if there was any official answer?

As there have been 3 threads in 3 years asking for a forum, I'm guessing if the answer is 'no' again, there is no chance of it any time in the future. Just wondered if a decision had been made yet?

I can't see why not?

I don't spend a lot of time on here because the sections are all over place.

How many review sections?

Just about everything to talk about goes under Miscellaneous!

A close-up section would not go a miss as well as stage.

Why? If I want some insparation in an area I can go to it and all the threads are already in sections.

When I am looking to add a new effect I go to the main forum I use and browse the section on that subject its very usefull.

I get as much from forums as I do from clubs but this one is not that easy to use so I don't contribute that much.

hey i missed this thread somehow. if i would have found it i would not have started my own thread on restructuring :)

yeah im also for some more logical structure in the forum :) it really is totaly weird to have a whole SUBFORUM on ONE BOOK and not one on cards or coins or childrens magic in this case...

so i say divide et impera all the way ;)

Personally I don't really fancy the idea of having forums broken down by the types of magic.

The bunny does this and usually I don't read the close-up or children's forums, even though in their general forum or in the Misc. section here I find these threads interesting and typically read them all.

We may as well throw a cards and coins section in too. In fact, let's change the layout to bright green and rename it TalkCafe.

so what you want to say? only because the cafe has a more distinctive structure as actually every forum has or should have you dont want it? want to be different at any price huh Lenoir? i also am a member of the cafe as well as here. i believe both forums distinguish themselves enough that i am browsing both :) why not have here a more logical structure?

I like the fact that TM has more of a bias towards mentalism. Some of the discussions we've had on here about psychics, the esoteric arts, ESP etc. have been most refreshing and were the kinds of discussions that on other forums would have been flamed to death. TM seems more grown up than most. If it ain't broke...

And please, this is just my own personal opinion. Please don't get all rowdy with me.

i agree with you :) this why i love reading through here. actually im working myself through the ethics thread in the doves area :) its very interesting.

but uhm the forum can be biased toards mentalism all the way and there is no problem with that...but since it is a magic forum i believe some divisions for other magical disciplines should also be provided...its just really annoying to look for the threads you are interested in in the misc and support forums...and ignore the ones you are not...all so mixed together :/

Children's Entertainers

Postby milo » Nov 19th, '08, 19:17

I have just launched a whole site that is only for children's entertainers www.childrensentertainer.freeforums.org – This covers everything from kids magic shows to discos, balloons and more.

This is the only dedicated children’s entertainer forum in the UK (that I’m aware of) so I’m sure you’ll find it useful.

I hope no one minds me plugging it on here and I’m sure it’s what the children’s entertainers are looking for.

It only went on line today, but I’m sure the member count will increase over the next few weeks as I’m expecting loads of Clowns International members to join along with children’s DJs etc.

I’m also offering free business listings!
