Fifth Element, two card effects by Lee Smith (aka magicskiski on TM!)
The Effects
The Third Degree - one spectator thinks of a card, a second spectator picks a card which is placed under a glass on the table and a third spectator selects a card which is removed from the deck and magically changed into the the card on the table, the card under the glass becomes the first spectator's thought of card.
Fifth Element - A spectator is shown 5 cards and asked to think of anyone of them. The cards are placed one at a time into the spectator's hand and is challenged to trap his chosen card as soon as he sees it by placing his other hand on top. Naturally the magish proves that the spetator wasn't quite quick enough by producing the thought of card from his pocket.
Available from:
www.walkaboutmagic.com either as a printed booklet or a download but likely to be download only very soon hence posting in this Review Section!
Cost:
Booklet £9.99 inc P&P, download £5.99
Difficulty:
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
I'd say 3 as there are some sleights required, passes, DLs, changes but well within the scope of most cardies.
Review:
Difficult to say much without giving the game away, I've worked very slowly though each routine and can produce a creditable effect but I'd need more practice to make it look as good as the proper cardies here on TM who will probably be able to do them within minutes of reading - you already know what to do and how to do it! Newcomers to card magic will need to work on the sleights to get up to speed but nothing beyond the scope of any enthusiast. The effects themselves are quite astonishing, plenty of that 'it was supposed to be here but instead it's over here' type of thing which leaves spectators gobsmacked and unable to reverse engineer what went on.
Overall:
If you're a card worker then well worth the money to add these to your arsenal of routines. 8/10
