I'm pretty sure I'm available to hang out, but will be away for Tab on April 15-16-17.

So, any other takers whom would want to define the time further?

I'm up for it. Would have to be after the 15th however!

I can't see me making a meet unless I'm lucky enough to be visiting Wales when it's happening. I finally got a job in Edinburgh so I'll be settling up there for good. I was looking forward to another one too! :(

And all of this still hasn't defined a single date for this meet up of epic greatness.
Due to my current situation, I'm free for any time. So someone decide or I'll throw darts at the FHM 2011 calendar on my wall (Currently Olivia Munn)

I'm voting darts! I'm mostly free afternoons and evenings, so I'm pretty okay at any time :)

My only issue with the timing is that I know where I am up until the 17th (Sunday). My note from the doctors runs until the 17th and I would have a working day on the 18th at least with future dates unknown. If the doctor says I can have more time off when I see them on Thursday, then this is not an issue. They may turn around and say that I need to buck up my ideas and return to purgatory, but this is unlikely.

In an ideal world, given the restrictions of Mr Beard and Ms Hoedt, We're looking at maybe the weekend of the 23rd or 24th, but to me I would rather the 17th unless I actually get another note. I will update as soon as I have a result from them.

I would have to make this a stupidly cheap afternoon/evening though. Statutory Sick Pay is not that fun...

Extra: Last time, Mr Beard suggested making up a theme a week before for everyone to make or do something towards.

I nominate Beard to nominate the theme. Gives me something to do...

We can decide whether to do the 17th or the following week nearer the time...or indeed, both!

Theme huh? Hmmm....

Magic is all about presentation, and it is presentation that is the skill, not the technical.....ness

I want to see a self-working effect (doesn't matter whether it is cards, coins, props, whatever) but nice and entertaining. If you have a weird prop, I want it to be completely natural as to why you have it with you. I want this to be a routine that takes little to no sleight of hand, but when you show it to a layperson in the pub ( ;) ) I want them to see the effect and think it is better than david blaine, derren brown, and me put together ;)

So, rules:

self-worker
entertaining
no ID or brainwave deck
makes sense (why have a chinese coin, a piece of rope and a cup with you in a pub? Make sure every "prop", if you even have any at all, makes sense - present everything in context)
Natural (Don't be reading body language if you are 14 years old, don't be psychic if in the following effect you debunk them - be yourself)

The layperson gets to decide the winner, and a drink gets purchased ;)

Sound good? Anything you want to add?

Love

Chris

I can try the 17th, but coming back from Huddersfield that day, so not sure when I'll be back in Cardiff.

I'll have to opt out of learning anything, but I'm assuming I'm the 'layperson', anyway, so there you go. I'll use my devilish female charm and act as the lovely assistant! :D

EDIT: Scratch the 17th for me. It's 4 to 5 hours from Hud to Cardiff, need to go home, dump my stuff, then an hour to get to Swansea, so I don't think I'd get there til you lot are leaving...

Result is that I have a note continuation, so I can do after the 17th if anyone wants to, and I certainly will be around for the 17th meetup too...

Since I have failed in my ability to read before posting, I hereby declare tomorrow's potential meetup to be non-existent, and instead decree that next Sunday (April 24th) would be the meet-up date instead, probably in the usual Bank Statement in Swansea at some undetermined time in the afternoon.

It will also give me time to get something done for the theme...

:)

And Ms Madelon, you are classed as magic, thus a self-worker should be learnt ;)

24th is fine for me. As for the effect: I will have learned how to push nails up my nose. That should be enough :p
