slydini silks

Postby lozey » Nov 20th, '08, 22:46

I bought a set of Slydini silks to go with my Bill Malone dvds ('On the Loose'). For some reason I cant seem to get the knots to do what they need to do. Iv followed all the advice on the dvd. The silks are original Slydini silks and are brand new. They have never got wet, so thats not the problem. Could anyone suggest some advice for me please?

Hello

I have found the slydini silks routine to be a bit on the unreliable side too and sometimes you are just left with a knot from hell I will pm you a few tips that may help...or indeed may not.

Very old thread but such a great routine...

Are either of you two still doing the silks? How are you getting along with it? Anyone else using it?

I've just got into it. It can be a bit tricky sometimes. I think the main problem is that they might be left handed and you might be right or whatever, or they might just hold them a different way, so you can find that you have to reverse everything.

Yes, you could buy a large quantity of parachute silk, apparently for not much more than the cost of a set of 'Slydini silks', and cut them up and sew the hems to make your own.

The problem with parachutes is that they usually let you down....

"Hey if this parachute doesn't work can I get a refund?"
"Sure just bring it back to the shop...."

Ah yes, school dinners...

Racing back almost on topic, there's a Sympathetic Silks
routine included in jack Delvin's book, the link is at http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/sutra395217.php#395217, and well worth a fiver.

Agreed. I thought I was getting pretty good with silks until I saw this.

Do we know if the hankies are entirely ungimmicked? You could create an effect of hankies being knotted with, um, a certain something, but I'm not sure how convincing it would look. Maybe Paul just doesn't need to do that.

The hanks are not gimmicked, although i believe the last stage uses a wee bit of help.

His methods are fairly standard ones that can be found in Rice, where he scores, is in the presentation, and execution of the effect.
