Magicians sued in 'The Stella Awards'

Postby lozey » Nov 27th, '08, 21:01

http://www.stellaawards.com/2005.html

And the winner of the 2005 True Stella Award: Christopher Roller of Burnsville, Minn. Roller is mystified by professional magicians, so he sued David Blaine and David Copperfield to demand they reveal their secrets to him -- or else pay him 10 percent of their lifelong earnings, which he figures amounts to $50 million for Copperfield and $2 million for Blaine. The basis for his suit: Roller claims that the magicians defy the laws of physics, and thus must be using "godly powers" -- and since Roller is god (according to him), they're "somehow" stealing that power from him.

I heard about this. The compensation culture taken to the nth degree. I don't understand something, so give me a large pile of your cash and i still won't understand it, but the world will be a better place.

Frightening. Can't we put these people in a rocket and shoot them into space or something?

If Roller is God, then he already knows exactly how the tricks are done.

Once he knows how they are done he won't be mystified any more so he can hand the money back... Perhaps the better result woild be to give him a copy of Mark Wilson's book and tell him all the secrets are in there, go work 'em out!

it's great PR for copperfield and blaine though...

what would be fun, is to take that guy, and teach him some basics...then counter-sue him...

I'm completely speechless here, other than to say "would it be at all legal to put the above suggestions into action?" :D

I do like the comedy(hope its comedy) of Black Heart.

If he was god, would he know the secrets, why would god(if a god exists) know the secrets to a human made apparatus or skillful manuvre?

Anyway. poor guy, hope he is not as deranged as it seems.

I think it is true, good PR for those magicians, but just so crazy.
You gotta be a little crazy sometimes, but that is just madness, sounds like a joke, but if its real, the court can not have allowed it.

I cannot see anything that Copperfield or Blaine does that has not an explanation.
yes, mystifying and baffling, but illusions nonetheless.
It's so odd that a magician who has won a competition, also thinks he is god and can fall so madly for someone elses magic in that way.

Don't worry. It wont take long for someone to sue him for the stress caused to the rest of us by people like him making cretinous lawsuits against other people..

I think im going to have a lie down now...
