ESPecially WILD by Paul Hallas

The Effect

From Meir Yehid magic, the blurb from the packet.

Destined to become a part of your act. This two-phase routine has to be seen to be appreciated. It leaves a powerful impact on your audience.

Two sets of colored ESP symbols are shown. You select an ESP symbol from your set and the spectator selects one from his set (Free Choice). They of course match. Stop right now and you have a miracle. But, this routine has a kicker. Using the freely selected symbol you magically transform all the other symbols into the selected one. Strong visual magic.

The innovations made in this routine make it twice as powerful as the classic Wild Card. ESPecially Wild gets away from all alike cards, which cause suspicion. ESPecially Wild gives you two effects for the price of one. ESPecially Wild gives the impression that the cards change to match a freely selected symbol.

This has tremendous impact on lay audiences. There are no difficult sleights and you should be able to perform it after ten minutes of practice.

Comes complete with ten specially printed poker-size Bicycle cards and photo-illustrated instructions. This new printing has all the cards changing into green stars.

Review

It's not often that I'm that interested in card or packet tricks these days but Mike demo'd this for me yesterday and I had no hesitation in buying this.

The sleight needed is the g**de which is fairly easy to do and this should knock the socks off your specs.

What I like is that it uses ESP symbols rather than queen, kings, aces etc. which in my opinion makes a bigger impact on an audience and it should fit straight into a psychic routine.

The first phase looks just like a prediction routine with both you and the spec selecting the same card from a spread of five cards, all shown very fairly. You then go into the second phase and your specs will find this impossible to reconstruct what happened in their heads either during or afterwards as you change each card into a set of cards to match their selection.

The use of ESP sysmbols elevates this effect far beyond a traditional card trick and this totally fooled me.

Overall

This routine is pure genious and isn't difficult or time consuming to learn. This is a very powerfull effect in the right setting and when performed with confidence and one that I think is worth much more than the asking price.

This IS NOT a routine to mix in with a whole bunch of other card tricks as I think that it will weaken it considerably.

I found the following video http://www.previewmagic.com/hallas-especiallywild.html although the patter used could do with some improvement

Thank you for a good review. It looks a cool trick and I might have to dip into my piggy bank after the holidays.

It's well worth the money and if you go into see Mike and ask him to demo it, he'll show you an alternative handling which I think is much better than the original.

I understand that this alternative is credited to Gary Jones.

Hi! this is Mike Danata, Gary very kindly showed me the handling, but actually it is credited to Aldo Colombini!

I understand that even Paul Hallis performs it this way now.

It means now that only one move is involved with no glides at all!!!

Plus the "move" isn't really a move..........

All good wishes

Mike

ESPecially Wild

Postby danata » Dec 31st, '08, 22:25

Hi, this is Mike again.

My good friend Roger Barton did a quick film clip of me doing ESPecially Wild, using the Aldo Colombini "Move" (that isn't a move!!). This was shown to me by Gary Jones. You will also notice that I have changed the handling for the part of the routine where the cards all change to the selected card! If you have the original trick & know how the trick works, I believe that if you study the film clip enough times, you will catch the handlings!!
The link is as below:

Any probs then please contact me.

All good wishes

Mike

I much prefer the handling that Mike uses to the original.

Thanks again for sharing.
