~The riddle GAME~

Postby werr » Jan 14th, '09, 08:43

This is a forum game wich involves riddles.

These are the rules: someone (in this case me) posts a riddle, when it is solved the person who guessed it posts another and so on...

DO NOT post new riddle before the last one is solved
If you have guessed the riddle you MUST post another one to avoid confucion

Here it is:

How many times can you subtract the number 5 from 25?

Isn't it the nature of riddles that they have many right-seeming wrong answers?

Once.

Just checking I was right...

This is a bit interactive. You need to get a piece of paper and write 9 in Roman numberals on it.

What you need to do is add a single line to make 6.

EDIT: Not sure how I ended up with "numberals" but I'm leaving it like that.

This may not be the "correct" answer...

But if you draw a line directly through the "numberals" then you'll dissect the IX into VI and IV, if you turn around the paper.

A gentleman who was both a Magi and a known liar was trapped by witchhunters, and sentenced to death. They gave him the choice of his execution. He would be ungagged and could say one final sentence.

If this sentence was true, he would be skinned alive with blunted razors. If untrue, he would roast for days over a small fire.

The Magi was ungagged, said his final speech, and the witchhunters were forced to let him go.

What did he say?

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

Beats me. But im itching to know.

In response to Mr Grue's, i would put a wavy line in front of the numerals. Wavy a lot like the letter S. You said a single line, you didnt say it had to be straight. So S I X. But i like Dom's better.

I guess the Magi said to the witch hunters: "This sentence is false". If it's really false, then he's telling the truth, in which case the sentence is actually true. So it can be both... if case I'm wrong, ignore this post and the following riddle (which actually is too good to be ignored):

"We are looking for a certain product here:

The man who ordered it, didn't need it.
The man who fabricated it, never tested it.
The man who used it, never saw it."

What is it?

Bah, close enough.

The sentence was

"I will roast for days over a small fire"

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.
