What You Get:
A 51 page manuscript absolutely full of good advice

The Review

There are more and more people these days with a solid background in magic, trying to move into the field of Mentalism. If unprepared this could easily be a mine field. (see what I did there?)

This substantial PDF is written by someone who has been there, made the transition and is now booked on a regular basis for some very high powered events.

I don’t know Max Gordon personally, but he has a sensible head on his shoulders and although much of it reads as common sense, that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be said. The advice is excellent and this manuscript will be of use to anyone who wants to perform mentalism professionally.

There are no tricks in the booklet – which in this case is a good thing. This is not what it is about. In many ways the writing reminded me of some of Richard Osterlind’s Essays, and believe me – I couldn’t give higher praise than that.

The topics discussed include…

Mindset - Theirs and yours
Performing Circumstances
Performing Environment
Other Performers
Fees
Why do Agents Book some Acts and not Others?
Contracts
Deposits
Risk Assessments and Method Statements

The title, “Magic to Mentalism” implies this is just for the would be mentalists, and in fact I said that myself in the review, however although for the most part that is true, I would suggest that this Manuscript would also be very useful to anyone wanting to away from the Close-Up market into the world of Corporate and Cabaret.

The Bottom line
Very highly recommended. I do genuinely feel it is priced way too low, but I would suggest you take up the offer whilst you can.

Thanks for the compliments Simon,

Is it always difficult to make manuscripts with no "tricks" in sound interesting. My goal was to explain the business side of show-business in more detail. You never know, apply the techniques on getting work and you are in real danger of getting more bookings!
