This looks WICKED!

For those of you (us) who like cool gadgets but aren't that keen on the plasticy nature of the props (albeit very clever) check this out...

nice. Though i have to question the logic of making soft coins. Ive never found it to be a great effect. And its been in many childrens magic sets over the last few years, in various pirated versions.
The sticks, and the money paddle look very nice.

This is hilarious. Look at how "different" the revamped props really are. LOL!

Obviously they are the "same". The props make up the trick. Can't see what the problem with that is.

I would think nicely anodised, machined aluminium is a bit more "professional" to present than intrinsically coloured injection moulded plastic. They will also last forever.

These are reworkings of Tenyo classics, they haven't said they would be anything else. I think it is a very nice evolution for some off the shelf classics. I'd be proud to have them in my collection.

talkmagicguy, I think you're missing the point. Tom has explained it pretty well, so I won't repeat.

Sounds like these Elite versions will come in at an Elite price; I think they are lovely looking products, though, and I would snap them up if my wallet allowed it.

What is it you don't get? As the name suggests, these are "elite" versions of Tenyo classics; elite in that they are constructed from materials like heavy-gauge anodised aluminium with laser etching (as opposed to brightly-coloured plastic), and come nicely packaged, too. The product itself gives the same effect as the original, using the same methodology. The only difference is the quality of material used in the production. Very nice collector's items, in my opinion.

you have to realise that these pieces are probably aimed more at the collectors market, than the hobbyist.
Id like to see an elite version of their original see through finger chopper.

Hello all:

Thank you for getting this thread started, Tom! My partners Steve Brooks (owner of The Magic Cafe), Peter Loughran (Master of Illusions Entertainment) and I (Paltergeist Unlimited) appreciate that you did so!

We have been working very hard on this, and formed our company JPS Magic Studios Ltd. (yup, that's Jason, Peter and Steve for those of you paying attention! lol) about 1.5 years ago. While amateurs and collectors will of course enjoy this new line, Tenyo Elite, we think that "professionals" will most certainly get a lot of use out of them. The Tenyo products are amazing, and we love them! However for years many have wanted them constructed in more "robust" materials for their audiences, and that is what we have done. Peter, Steve and I are professional performers and we really wanted to be more "comfortable" performing Tenyo items at our paid gigs........so now this will be facilitated a little more "easily" with the Tenyo Elite line.

This worldwide manufacturing license was granted to us by Tenyo, and each piece is approved (and authorized) by them as well. As a result, while we have quite a wide range of material that we can choose from, ultimately Tenyo has the final say-----as it should be.

Talkmagicguy, I'm sure you were just teasing with your comment, but you do bring up a good point: If you are not familiar with the originals (and also have not seen our new editions), it can be difficult to see the differences in the photos. However this is why we put down some of the selling "features" in the descriptions. For example, at first blush, the picture of our edition of "Moonspinner" really doesn't look that much different from the photo beside it of Tenyo's original (and long-unavailable, by the way). But let me assure you that to look at them both in real-life, and especially to hold them both, there are MANY differences:
-The Tenyo Elite edition is NOT made of plastic, but rather anodized aluminum.
-The Tenyo Eilte edition has a very nice weight to it.
-The Tenyo Elite edition comes with a hand-crafted case (that you can actually use in part of the trick).
-The hypnotic pattern on the original is only a paper sticker. The pattern on the hypnotic pattern is actually etched into the aluminum with a laser and will not come off.
-Quite simply, the Tenyo Elite edition feels and looks much more robust, and like a "professional prop".

What I'm trying to say is to please keep in mind that in some cases, the photos (and the photo comparisons) do not do the Tenyo Elite editions justice. Again, this is especially true if you are not familiar with ours or the Tenyo original pieces.

One of the reasons that we put the original photos there was to honor the Tenyo pieces, and also to attempt to give a photo "realization" of the differences. But like many things in life, you've just "gotta see it and feel it" to appreciate the quality, and you will be able to do this very soon when the items go on sale.

We are still working out the final pricing details. Again, because one of our target markets are the performing magicians, these are intended to be affordable for this group. While the prices will be "Elite" (to quote Replicant), they will not be unreasonable at all. Like anything in life, you will get what you pay for, but our intention is to certainly make the retail prices affordable.

We will be debuting these at the World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas, March 1-4, and we hope to have them on sale within a couple of months after that. So if you are attending the convention, we hope to see you there at our booth!

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much for your time.

Best regards,

Nice post, Jason. Do you have any plans to release an Elite version of Eye of the Idol? This has to be one of my favorite Tenyo products and has not, I believe, been available for a number of years now, at least in the UK. (But I could be wrong).

Hello all:

Replicant, there are so many different Tenyo items to choose from, but we haven't decided exactly which ones were doing and which we are not. As time goes on we will be able to narrow down the choices, however I should tell you that we plan to release between 4 and 6 per year.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for your time.

Best regards,

I bought the original Blue Crystal ages ago and I reckon it's the best of the bunch above simply because it's different and the whole thing works very well indeed. The visual effect of a borrowed coin slowly sinking into a solid block of transparent blue plastic right under the spec's noses is superb.
