Hi,

The video demo has done the trick literally and i've now got it nailed, thanks Paul. Absolutely love the effect and can't wait to debut it to friends soon. Just need to get a nice storyline involved now!.....

Hi guys,

Just bought this effect off Paul at Blackpool after seeing him dem it several times.

The only part I have difficulty with is the DL he uses (I don't do any type of DL myself currently but am proficient in a number of much more difficult sleights so am keen to put in whatever work is necessary to learn one).

Does anyone have any tips on the lifts that they use for this effect or can you point me in the direction of any useful info that I can start to study from.

P.S. Just thought I'd add that Paul's handling of his sleights appeared effortless and everything he did at his stall smacked of professional...

Thanks for the quick response Paul.

I can see on the video that you push off a block with the edge of your thumb - do you use the base of your thumb as a pivot for the bottom of the block and do you square the right hand edge of the block with your right hand?

I cannot seem to keep the block of cards square at the moment...

Hi TrAmp,

Well, it's really just practice...do it until it works. Obvious advice, I guess, but it works...

Question

Postby MagicMan43 » Feb 27th, '09, 13:57

just a quick question, what are the antique cards that came with the picadilly trick actually called?

i was at the convention that sunday, walking around having a last minute mooch before closing. I was fortunate to find a wallet containing about 25 of the antique style cards from the Picadilly trick.... in a bargain bin lol

i paid eight pounds and was probabally ripped off but what the hell. They contained loads of gaffed cards, different coloured backs, double backers, and blanks.

needless to say they the scope for the picadilly trick is now endless, but there was no name on the cards.

any answers??

ta very much
Steve.

Why is the scope endless? Corner of Piccadilly is gaff-free and okay "as is." Best, Paul Gordon

If you got your hands on 25 of these cards for £8 then I think that you got a bargain.

I think what Magicman may mean is that he's got a good supply of cards that will last him a long time and will be able to do this with a variety of different cards instead of just aces and sixes etc.

lol, i didnt mean to cause offence, as the trick is amazing. the good thing about it is that it is gaff free.

when i first bought the trick the four cards looked really good and immediatley i thought how can i replace these when they are tatty.

But the point is that sometimes a trick can become stale, like
'This n That' for example. i loved that trick so much, and at the convention everyone i spoke to knew how it was done and how to perform it.
It has been on utube so long that now theres probabally no magician alive that doesnt know how its done.

i believe that as long as the person who invented a trick is credited, a performer if he can or wishes can adapt a trick, make it longer or into a full routine, magicans should be innovative after all.
it will stop a trick becoming stale when everyone has seen it.

i used a blank gaff last night to make the queens vanish and it wowed everyone farther still. make a trick slightly different if you can and keep people guessing.
