They Say

Sigillum Diaboli is not only a trick title that'll win you a game of Scrabble, it is also the most VISUAL twist on the classic Roy Walton Card Warp routine in existence!

Imagine taking a selected card and having it signed. You then draw a mysterious sign onto the selection - the "Sigillum Diaboli" or the Mark of the Devil - explaining how it will cause the playing card to reveal its 'true colours'.

And indeed it does! Visually, and with the card held at the finger tips of a single hand, the card turns INSIDE OUT, with half of it face up and half face down!

Almost instantly, the card completely turns face up, while again just held in one hand!

But then comes the killer. Folding the card into quarters with the face being hidden, a mere shake VISUALLY turns the whole card face out!

This is a DYNAMITE routine with CRAZY visuals! The entire effect occurs with the card held in one hand and with no cover what so ever, which just makes it look TOTALLY impossible!

Bear in mind that you can use any cards, there are no forces and the reset is quicker than Vanessa Feltz eating a Jaffa Cake.

SIGILLUM DIABOLI. Don't do card tricks - toy with heaven and hell instead.

I say

Effect

Ok so as stated this is a no cover one card version of Card Warp. Now before you start yawning at the back at the abundance of Carp Warp effects out there let me just state that this one appears to have the approval of Roy Walton which in itself is brilliant as let's face it the man is a genius and any respect thrown his way is should be greatly appreciated given the amount of times he's been ripped off (Ellusionist *cough*).

So why chose this one over the 1,000,000 variations that are already there. Well, good question. I already do the original Card Warp as part of my walkaround set and it's nigh on impossible to top it. It's visual, the plot is straight forward and at the end everything can be examined.

This has all of those properties but add to it that there is now only one card, which is signed by both the magician and the spectator. There is no covering card or other gimmicks and the card can be freely selected by the spectator (almost) from a deck that has been in use for the rest of your set. Therefore making it a perfect closer. Plus dare I say it's even more visual than the original.

Price
I'm not a fan of one trick DVD's as a rule. However I think given the strength of the effect, the £14.99 asking price is fair. You could easily make your money back from it in an evening and of course for that price you get all the usual high standards of production that BBM have made a name for themselves with.

The work

After initially seeing the demo on youtube, I immediately thought that the necessary sleight of hand would be in the Ernest Earick league of finger busting and on receiving the DVD I was geared up for some serious practice. Pleasantly, I found that it wasn't actually that bad and although some of the changes are knacky, I got the routine down within a couple of hours. Not perfect but something the average card man could easily achieve. I give it 2 out of 5 for difficulty.

Other Stuff

Along with the main routine there's also a variation whereby two selections change into each other one half at a time using the same principle and a coin printing routine very much in the style of Paul Harris. It's nice to see another application of the Warp changes in a pick a card routine but the coin thing wasn't particularly my style so I don't think that I'd use it.
Rorrison is certainly a clever guy and having really enjoyed his last set for BBM and his Night and Day DVD, I'm pleased to see him releasing more high quality material. Hopefully he'll keep it up and go from strength to strength as a result.

Overall I have to give it a very well deserved 9/10 although after continued use I have no doubt that this will enter my catalogue of 'workers' and earn itself a whopping 10!

Hope that helped everyone. Enjoy!!!

Bought this last month and still having probs with the smoothness of the moves.

It does not help that i seem to be a cack handed lefty for this trick and i am watching a man performing miracles and explaining it in his right hand.....Thats obviously my problem not his

It def. one that i will persevire with as i think visually its very impressive.

Overall well worth the 15 quid i paid
