So! I got Tarantula last week. to make it short; its great!!!!
I can say I used IT just for the coin levitation but the setup in a bar or club required me always finding a dark corner or go to the bathroom to set up the IT.

With Tarantula I can almost Improptu levitate a coin, ring, pen etc.. and end up clean after some slight misdirection.

At first I was a bit disapointed because I thought the gimmick was too easy to get noticed, WRONG!! I've done the routine inches from a spectator sight and they had no clue how it could be done.

The Hardware is a bit overpriced, since the gimmick costs probably just under 2 dollars to make, but its almost imposible to build one yourself.
(from what I know)

I had some problems with the Spool at the beginning but u learn how to handle the IT after a while.
I recomend buying a refill because the first one is probably going to waste while practicing, the second one is going to last much longer.

Another thing, I recomend changing the original battery, the one that comes with the Tarantula is very weak, I carry a spare battery in my wallet just in case, sucks to want to perform and have no juice in the gimmick.

Anyway, if you're into IT get this, its worth it.
Cheerz.

I'd have to agree with Johnny M... I went to Jimmy Bix's shop in Vienna on Friday to buy Tarantula, and I'm practically out of IT now (Sunday), just from practising. I'm a bit heavy handed when it comes to all this finikity stuff. Which means I'll have to steal a pair of my partner's tights tonight. She'll sure as hell love me for that. Maybe not.

I still don't really trust myself to try the "main" effect of floating a ring (probably because the ring I wear every day is huge and just drops to the floor every time I try it), but I tried floating a 10 euro note at a birthday party last night, and the crowd went absolutely wild!

Sure, this effect is very similar to Steve Fearson's, but what I like about Tarantula is that you go in a lot cleaner than Fearson's, and come out a lot cleaner, too.

I did think the gimmick was slightly over-priced, but once I've practised the ring spinning a little more, I *hope* it'll pay its worth. Will keep you posted!

As an aside, does anyone happen to know the name of the song which accompanies the trailer for this effect? It has such a wicked beat!

hey guys:D i got the tarantula for about 9 months or so and in the beginning i used it for everything :d the ring levitation is soo nice :D i did it at a party did the convincer (spining my finger around the ring to show no IT) there jaws dropped!)

the only problem for me is the setup u need with the ring lev is that i have curly hair:S and sometimes it gets tangled xd or my hair moves when i lower the ring or make it rise :P

the wizard pk ring is btw a perfect weight for the levitation ....:)

some tips for the ring spin: when u spin the ring try to keep te ring at the exact place when u move it to left or right with the spin its gonna dangle... what makes it less impressive , if u spin it and throw it up a little bit the weight of the ring will make the IT snap when the IT is tense.. spinning it and lowering hands will probably also break it...

but !:P if u do it well its worth it! i wouldnt recomment it to people that are new to IT:P i started with it and i lost like 1 or 2 reels practicing

after my loop experience i knew how to handle it allot better:D

i use it now and then after i did a cards accross routine or any transpozition :P when i put my business card on table for them i reel it in when they start to grab it:P always gets a laugh!:P after they saw it happen u just pick up the card peel of the WAX and ure totally clean..

any one here knows any good levitations with Tarantula or other tricks?

BTW what i forgot to ask... :P does any one know how to get clean after a ring lev

what i do is i peel of the wax and stretch my arms and reel in :P but thats kinda obvious and sometimes they see the wax..... i dont wanna peel of the wax break the thread and reel in:) because its very irritating to get the IT back in posistion...

so any one ?:P its only for the ring levitation hookup

"To verify that indeed your unit is genuine, the circuit board, where the battery sits, must be black, and the stick switch, the trigger for the motor, must be removable. The fake units have a green circuit board, and the stick switch is stationary. This hopefully will clarify any confusion between a genuine Tarantula and any fraudulent unit. If you do have a fake, please contact support@mesikamagic.com "

I've been thinking about getting this for a while now but am worried about the set-up. Just how practical is it? Can it be ready to go during walkaround performances?

Genuinely want to buy it if it is practical. Does anyone actually use this anymore since the hype died down?

Hey peeps could anyone who owns the Tarantula be a legend and confirm whether their box says "Made in PRC"?

Just wanted to know whether some Tarantulas are made in PRC.

I am thinking of buying a Tarantula but I have heard with some of the hook ups involved you may have problems if you have a shaved head like myself, does anyone have any information on this?

Also, someone mentioned you can rethread the spools yourself with your own IT after the thread has run out rather than buying a new spool; has anyone tried this and does the Tarantula work as smoothly if you do rethread with your own IT rather than buying the made up spools, thanks.
