I'm familiar with George McBride from 5 Times 5 Scotland, the effects were direct, his version of Elmsley's Repulsive aces is great, the matrix "Reversal of Fortune" is brilliant, without extra coins, 4 coins travel undercover of 2 cards, ending with a backfire. Great Matrix, though I skipped it when reading the book since I was heavily into cards.

So I watched it on the DVD, and it kicked my a**. While the method is simple, the backfire killed me. This is the only coin effect in the DVD, the others are cards only.

ace De Triomphe is a version of Marlo's Vanishing aces, the plot later explored by Bill Goodwin and made extra popular by the Buck Twins. While the vanishes in these versions are very good, the final production might not suit everyone. Here in McBride's version, the vanishes are VERY good, the productions are very magical-elegant looking. My only beef is with the last phase, which you do a triumph. While the method makes it very clean with no fumbling, some people might reserve Triumph endings to something else ( Topsy Turvy aces .. etc ).

Bar Room Blues is a color changing pack which you can easily find its performance in youtube. While the gimmick should't keep someone from doing it, the need of lapping will.

Cutting the aces is a one-at-time ace cutting routine. While there is nothing revolutionary in it, full deck order is maintained, which allows you to produce other cards or go into other stacked deck stuff.

Double Swap Sandwich is something I added to my list. Its a version of Elmesly's Double Swap which features the Pincer center Double ( I think that's the name ). If you like that double you'll love this.

Open assembly is something I added and played with for a long time. I won't spoil it, just that I've been looking for an open-travelers-looking effect with an assembly theme, which I found in Richard Kaufman's CardWorks. This is is vastly superior. While I didn't like the flow in some areas, I fixed some issues to make it work for me and got myself something I'm proud of. This is GOOD. VERY GOOD. The climax is killer. This is not easy.

Immediate ace spelling is a classic George McBride effect, false deals needed, you spell to 3 aces, spec. spells to the last one.

Hotel Mystery is one of few good versions of Marlo's classic that neglects the deck. This version, along with a Peter Duffie version ( both using jokers ) are great. For none-joker version, David Solomon's version is very good.

Discrepant assembly is a very good seven card assembly, the effect is, as opposed to other versions, is crystal clear. The layout needs bottom dealing ( from a small packet=easy), though you could work around.

Triola is the 2nd previously published trick ( in Osmosis ), a sandwich with a visual appearance, then the sandwich cards change into the other 2 selections.

Flight Path .. I got really excited when I read about it because I know that's the name of the Roy Walton version of Elmsley's Repulsive aces. In reality its an OFF DECK, four signed aces travel to your pocket one at time. Its VERY clean. The sleights are extremely well managed and the routine while does have some moves, flow like silk without looking "movey" at all. The gaff is VERY easy to make, and you end clean. The only con I can think of is the lack of a climax, each ace go to the pocket, and you end.

The Twist Shift, the bonus, is awesome. Reminds me of Jenning's Circle shift, if you like that you'll love this.

Great DVD. Found 4 great items that I will be using. No large stacks. I should mention that you have to do pinkey counts to do some effects without any fumbling ( mainly 2 cards ).

Recommended. There is some palming involved in effects, with this in mind, the material range from intermediate to advanced ( false deals )
