DARK LIGHT - By Stephane Jardonnet

Teaser Ad copy:
A Seemingly ordinary 40 watt light bulb flickers and lights on command. Why is this amazing? Because this is after you unscrewed it from the socket. You can hold it, set it on the table, or hand it to the spectator, no touch or voice commands required. This is a extremely technologically advanced light bulb 4 years in the making.

So how about some of your thoughts on this? A review, if you will. Do you own Dark Light or is this an ad?

Requested review:

THE BULB
The light bulb comes boxed, and carefully surrounded in bubble wrap. As it is a real 40 watt light bulb. Even upon touch, and visual inspection is appears to look and feel like a normal light bulb.

THE REMOTE
The remote is small with one button, and consists of a simple circut board with an open on end protective covering. This allows the signal to travel very far. The remote can be easily stored in a pocket or fit in the hand. It's about half the length of a standard bic pen, and aprox three times its width. At just about the same thickness as a sharpie. Its distance is difficult to measure, but I would say virtually anyone who can see the bulb with the naked eye could control it's action. One push of the button, delivers a one second delay and then bulb flickers three times and then emits constant light for 12 seconds. Another push of the button can shut off the unit earlier. The one second delay allows time to activate ditch and show you hands clean.

THE ACTION
I purchased this to use for my mentalism act. But, since I have received it I am coming up with more, and more ideas. This is a supernatural effect that freaks people out, easily incorporated into stage, or TV.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS
It is expensive, however the technology, and quality behind Dark Light is clear as to why. I recommend this to anyone that is into mentalism, or has a Stage or TV act that could use a dose of Spiritism.

I hope that was a decent review I have only done a couple thus far.

my reservation about this item, ( in this country) is that you used the words unscrew. most bulbs in the u.k, are bayonet fitting.

also, light bulbs are becoming increasingly rarer, thanks to the shift over to lower wattage items.
I can see a time, in the not too distant future, when people will just not know what that strange round glass object is, that the magician put on the table.

A worse ( yet more likely) case senario.....
you hand it to a spectator. it lights up, and they drop it in shock.

smash.

That would be very funny, in a twisted sort of way.

I thought about that, but I was assured that it is repairable with a little effort if dropped. I was satisfied with the instructions, it covers it all. You can also switch it from the inside to just come on without the three flickers. I haven't taken mine apart to do this. But it's also covered in the instructions. They suggest that in that way it could be used as a lie detection routine. Additionally, if I touch someone while holding the bulb. It seems to generate a static shock to the other person. More ideas  I wish it were less expensive, but overall I am happy with my purchase.
