The Effect
Beginner to pro with sponge balls! Package includes everything you need to add a worldclass sponge ball routine to your act.

Cost
About 20 dollards on penguinmagic.com

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
I woul'd say 3 cause this is something that uses alot of slieghts but actualy they are not verry hard to lear. For some people it could be 4.

Review
As i was browsing the interweb about magic i was thinking to myself 'hmm, what coul'd i do that's fun and fast without preperation and gimmicks and the whole rimram. I even past a fiew dvd's on sponge balls but wasn't realy interested in it at first. I honestly tought it was a bit childish. But then i stumbeld on this dvd and i just watched the trailer. The reactions of people were crazy. The next day I asked my girlfriend about what here opinion was about those red balls. She told me a story on how a guy once magicaly put an extra ball in her hand. She said it was the best trick she'd ever seen.

Enough about the background. I ordered the dvd and about a week later, there it was. On the website they promissed me there would be 4 sponge balls included but i couldn't find them. Then i opened the dvd cover and 4 red funny balls popped out. I was like 'were they all in there?'
After putting the dvd in my laptop and watching it once and trying evertything Jay tried to learn me i already coul'd do most of them. So i tested the balls on a few people and it worked. Altough a few people saw how it worked.
I wanted to watch the dvd again. There was a bonus section with Darwin. He learns you a few verry nice tips and tricks. The part with Darwin is worth the price of the dvd by itself. It's realy realy realy helpfull.
Honeslty i think this dvd is more for the beginner to get good at these things, but not to get pro. I learned alot, and i use them every day. But i feel like i can learn alot more.

Overall
I am verry pleased with my dvd and if you are a beginner, or you never touched sponge balls in your life. You should buy it. It realy is worth the money, aspecially the part with Darwin.

I would give the presentation 8/10. The amount of stuff on the dvd 9/10.

After a proper introduction to magic my magic dealer frequently advised me to try this DVD. I thought of spongeballs as childish as well... I bought the DVD a few months later and must say that I liked it too.
The basics are explained clearly (though Jay is not the best teacher in my opinion). And like you said - this one is not for the performer who already uses spongeballs.

At the moment I don't use them anymore (I've had great reactions with them though) because I'm exploring the fields of mentalism these days.

Possibly because it was reviewed over a year ago by lozey: http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic23176.php

Thanks for taking the time to write the review, especially as you have quite a different view from lozey. It's good to get someone else's opinion.

However, just to keep things tidy, if you want to review something, please do a search (there's even a review index that Replicant maintains) to see if it's been covered before. If it has, please add your review to existing threads.

Hope that's not out of line, moderators.
