While I don't have this particular topit I do have four others by different people and to be honest, they're basically all the same.

What I suspect you're paying for is an accompanying DVD with basic instruction and sime ideas for routines.

Me personal advice would be to buy the cheapest topit that you can find, get it installed and then play around with it for a while to determine if you like it or not.

I've reviewed a number of topits and DVD's on the topit but the best is the Bob Fitch Topit Workshop 3 DVD set which I got from Mike Danata.

dp's toppit

Postby ryanmagic » Aug 2nd, '09, 21:08

I witnessed the toppit several months before it was released, due to a lecture from david himself, who is now a regular at my society, and I must say his uses of it were new and honestly fascinating! However I believe the price is slightly to high, would I recommend it? For the regular close-up magician looking for something new, YES, but for others perhaps not. However it must be said well done Mr.Penn for his re-creation of the product!!!!

I have one of these and I'm just starting to use it.

One question that I have, and please remove if this is exposing, but after it's attached to my jacket, do I also need to safety pin it to the top of my trousers?

On the DVD it does mention this in a set up section, but it's not clear if you need it like this for performance. It would make sense I guess as it would stop a gap appearing between the toppit and your belt line - giving a better hit rate.

Cheers,

Not sure of the David Pen pattern but if it has a flap then add some weight to the end of the flpa and tuck this into your trousers when you perform with it.

PM me for more details if you wish.

I've been flirting with the idea of getting a topit for a while now.

Which is considered the best? I like the Jay Scott Berry I think it is with the sleeve pockets but don't know how they work and if they are going to be easily spotted.

This (21st Century) Topit looks good and knowing David it will have some good routines.

Can anyone compare the Topits with each other and others?

Regards

I've done a few reviews on Topits here on TM and they're mnuch of a uchness.

The Jay Scott Berry is a pretty good choice and the sleeve pockets go on the inside of the jacket sleeve so they won't be spotted. There'a a couple of good routines on the DVD too.

I've not got the David Penn set so can't comment on that one.
