new to magic?

Postby IAIN » Thu Sep 17, 2009 8:47 pm

why not have a section called "New to Magic?" and just dump all the stickies and content for "where do i begin?" type questions...that way it becomes a one stop resource for all the newbies...

maybe some of the more helpful members here could provide links to the pertinent threads too?

THAT'S A BLOODY AWESOME IDEA!

I was just talking with Mandrake about how we might best serve the Newbies with a "kick start" situation. I think you may have hit the nail on the head here.

I agree. I usually end up looking through various categories when I search for a stickied note.

Maybe it could be added as a subsection in the welcome area?

I agree that it's a great idea, but the cynic in me can't help but think that people just wouldn't bother to look and still post the same old questions. The review indexes, for example, are stickies yet people continue to post duplicate reviews. It happens all the time. People can't be bothered to search or even to look at the stickies.

Having said that, I still think it's worth a try. I'm just not overly confident that it will be as effective as we would all like it to be.

at least we'd have one link to show them, rather than a million to one?

It's a good idea and certainly worth a try. I hope the mods go for it.
