If I may ask what did you use to blacken the deck with?

A black Sharpie or other marker can be used but I seem to remember that black boot polish was mentioned at one point because it doesn't 'bleed' onto the cards - no that it matters too much with the Black Tigers!

Actually, I had a bit of trouble with bleeding when I blackened the edges. I started off by blackening the edges of the two jokers while I held them as a double but the marker I was using bled onto the faces and if you catch it on the right angle (or wrong one if you were performing) you can see a dark purple stain on the edges of the faces. To combat this problem I had to blacken each card individually and this stopped any issues of bleeding.

All the best,

Would the reverse be workable - ie only blackening the edges of one card?

Oh and Goldfish I have to ask - how long did it take to do the whole deck?!

Good point... however, the blackening of ALL cards is actually a great benefit with this deck...

With a regular deck, the edges of the cards become naturally feathered and dirty. It's barely noticeable.

With the Black decks, however, after a few hours working, the 'feathering' on the edges starts to show. And it makes certain moves such as DLs and the like quite tricky. The chances of flashing a double are a lot higher.

By penning in the edges, it's almost like a black-art effect... the edges 'merge'. DLs are a dream, and the whole deck is SOOOO much more useable.

Therefore, I would say that marking all the edges becomes a necessity. Even if you're only using the deck for flourishes and the like.

Seriously—you have to see the difference before/after to realise what a splendid idea it is.

I'd have to aggree whole heartedly with seige, blackent the edges is a definate bonus and will give the Black Tigers a definative edge (Edge, get it?!) over another deck of cards in terms of certain moves.

:D Bout an hour, luckily I had things to occupy me, i.e. watching TV, listening to music, chatting on msn, etc.

However I was in a good mood at the time

Blackened the edges of mine. Man they look sweeeeeet! It bled a little but I did the whole deck at one time. DL's are amazing.

P.S. When I got my deck 3 days ago the tiger didn't look as cool as i thought it would be.

I didnt realise his was still going boutthe black edges. To combat the problem of the bleed runningon onto the face of the cards i used a thick tip perminant marker which was on the verge of running out. this is how i did it.

I removed the white card and hen cut the deck ito thirds.

using the "nearly dry marker i was able to colour in the edged gradually without th ink bleeding. The knack being is finding the right "nearly empty" pen. This is because the cards are so dty they will draw any liquid into their edges and between them "theres some phisics principle for this happening but i dunno what its called"

Then using Toms idear i used a cotton bud and a tiny amount of black boot polish to colour in the edges of the Three. You have to leave this for ages for the boot polish to fully dry.

all in all the main deck took about 5 minutes.

air pressure forces the ink up a tube or between the spaces between the cards isn't physics grand.
