Well, yes. I think I've more or less described this effect as flawless but then today I produced music at an inopportune time. Major boob.

It seems that sometimes it doesn't play when you want it to and then sometimes it does when you don't.

An off-switch would be good as I don't know if this non-playing I'm getting is because it has kind of gone to sleep or something. It's always after a period of non-use.

I'd consider buying this effect purely to say "give the cards an iPod shuffle"...

It is a one trick pony though it seems, however.

Definitely no.5 on my CUPS "To Buy" List

Oh push it up from 5. It really is great. And, yes, that line is a killer especially if you deliver it with a "d'you see what I did there?" tone of voice!

Having said that, I got it from Alakazam on 24% off day so it was more like £30 than £40. Very pleased.

And yes, Rufio, one trick pony indeed but if that one trick is impressive enough and so different to everything else you do...? Plus you *do* get an intriguing bonus effect.

Re. song choices:

I have found that Rehab and Can't Buy Me Love are both great because they start with the chorus immediately (no intro whatsoever) and so the song is immediately recognisable by its most famous hook but still sounds like you are playing the track from the start...which you in fact are.

Also nice diversity of styles but both well-known by different ages (ish!).

Just a suggestion...

Ha!! It's yours for a tenner Iain.

Truth is I bought three effects from Alakazam in their 24 hour sale. Two I think are great and I can work with, one isn't really for me so I'm happy to sell it on at a bit of a loss. The price I paid is for learning whether it suits me or not.

Maybe I'm overly fussy.

Anyway the iDeck's staying. Truly.

Rufio

but what are numbers 1 to 4:)

I really like this trick and wad in two minds until I saw what it was. It is actually genius. I thunk it could be a perfect opener for almost any crowd given how popular the apple devices are with all ages.

It does what it says in the blurb, it's fresh and a real winner as far as I'm concerned

You guys are probably right: I can probably re-prioritise this list. Maybe I-Deck is now upped from no.5, as Extractor seems expensive for the overall effect, and I've seen Colour Burn pretty cheap somewhere so will prob buy that soon...

1. Slydini's Silks
2. Extreme Burn - Richard Sanders
3. Colour Burn - David Forrest
4. Extractor - Bromley / Nardi

So it's coming up to No.3 on list. However, once I've purchased all items, THAT'S the lot. No more magic purchases! If there's any posts in the Approved Items For Sale, I am not going to peruse unless the CUPS list items appear... I mean, it's not NECESSARY to purchase an I-Deck is it? Yeah, I can picture those reactions already and picture Tim's "see what I did there?" tone of voice being really suited to my presentation..

It's prob best to become a TalkMagic recluse and take up the art of coin magic to avoid the financial pitfalls of CUPS. Credit Usurping Purchase Silliness...

Otherwise I may innocently read an effect description, Googlit, ebayit, youtubit, and before I even realise what's happened, I've developed a fixation and pre-occupation with said item.

It's easily done, and TalkMagic is the instigator and culprit.

That, and signing up to the Alakazam newsletter.

Ha! How many times have we all said "That's it - no more!"?

Don't know all of the items on your list but for what it's worth I have not regretted buying iDeck or Extractor for a moment.

iDeck is just ace. The one criticism is - yes it should have an off switch. Even if you're not wearing the device needed it can just go off in your pocket.

Extractor makes you able to perform the perfect card trick in my opinion. Shuffled deck, no force, signed card, put back in deck by spectator and guess what - it instantly appears in your shoe! There are various uses but that's my favourite. Love it.

Or you could save 50 quid and put a card in your shoe and learn Topping The Deck.

Yeah that works as well but then you have to fish the cards out of your topit and it can look a bit silly walking between tables as you pick up the whole deck.

The extractor is genius, i hardly use it unless in a paid gig but it's a superb utility.

Edit to say - Also topping the deck, DPS the card out or any other palm you can think of is not the same as the spec putting the card all the way into a sealed box either no matter what you say. I palm all the time I'm not scared of it but the extractor makes for a bigger miracle

Tim, you combing with the Shoe't Gimmick?

As for I-Deck, I had a resounding seal of approval from a critic on this one now I've set it up.

What songs are people using? I'm using shout and rehab

Hi, I am also using Shout, along with Billy Jean, just seems appropriate to have a Jackson song on, I think most people relate to him, and works well. I also have the extractor, really need to use it more, as it is a great utility device. I allways use Shoeit at gigs, it is by far, the one that gets the best reactions.
Three tricks in one post, can`t be bad, Keith.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying iDeck.

If anybody has any problems with "sound farts" email me at noelqualter@gmail.com.

Somebody mentioned that they do it with headphones attached from the beginning...erm, that wastes a great moment that people love.

Noel - are the "sound farts" a loud crackling sound?

I found it helped to hold the unit a certain way and keep it very still whilst recording.

I still find mine needs to "wake up" in that if it hasn't been used for an hour or so, the button needs pressing a few times before it springs into life. Have ordered new batteries in case that's why.

I perform magic at the school I work at and still get pupils saying "Do the iPod thing! Do the iPod thing!" all the time. I do need to change the songs now though!

Have said it before but Rehab and Can't Buy Me Love work great as they are very different styles and both start with the hook (no intro). To start a song midway through would be less real I think but you probably want people to hear the most well-known section.

As for the Extractor discussions - I agree with Agecroft entirely. Yes there could be palming techniques used instead but that doesn't beat coming out of a closed box. But is the closed box aspect worth £50? Mmmm...

I don't know of the shoe gadget. I just use the technique outlined on the DVD. Works a treat.
