I've been prowling round 'The Works' again and I see that they are now selling off little boxed sets of things like Make Your Own Dog Biscuits, The Executive Gong Set (don't ask!), Gingerbread Biscuit Cutter Set and so on for £1.99. You may have seen these things in Garden Centres or Gift & Card shops at about £3.99 or so.
Anyway the point of all this is that there is one box called The Art of The Love Letter (yes, yes, I know - just bear with me!) which contains notepaper of very similar kind to that supplied with Heirloom although it's a thin strip perhaps half an A5 sheet lengthways. There are also matching envelopes of the size usually attached to a bouquet of flowers plus a very nice Heart design Brass seal and a stick of red sealing wax. You can probably see what I have in mind now - Uncle Charlie's note could be edited a bit and transferred onto the paper strip, then sealed with the wax seal in the envelope and this is what was preserved for all those years.
If you already have convincing stationery to use then the seal and sealing wax idea would be a great finishing touch and very typical of olden times communications. With a bit of aging etc, the end result ought to look very convincing as the sort of thing a lady would treasure - note, envelope and all!
