I spend quite a lot of time with my 2 year old Grandson watching CBeebies (I'm almost fluent in Makaton!) so Alphablocks is very familiar indeed. Thanks for the tip, I'll nip off to the local discount magazine shop and see what their price is!

Conjuring Arts are doing their free summer reading club again.

https://shop.conjuringarts.org/store/pc/home.asp

This week's giveaway PDF is "Outs: Precautions and Challenges for Ambitious Card Workers" by Charles H Hopkins
https://shop.conjuringarts.org/store/pc ... 7pjgbGPMvE

Last year they gave away "Encyclopedia of Card Tricks", "RRTCM" and a book by Dunninger in PDF form (if memory serves me correctly) along with several other great titles.

Worth keeping an eye on.

If you have a shop called "The Book Warehouse" near you, they have these cards for £1:49. I figured that if you're doing magic away from the UK, they may be fun - It is summer holiday time, after all!

They're not quite bicycle card stock, but they're quite usable, although they won't faro at all. They're bridge sized (so very easy to palm), and, as the Union Jack is painted on to wooden boards, and there's knots in the wood work, they have a one way marking built in to them!

I have quite a few friends in Germany, so I go there fairly often... And I have been known to ham up the English-ness, Guv'nor! :)

I used to visit the US a lot and could never resist turning the wick up on the English accent, and speak in a very short clipped British tone, don't you know type of thing. also at the Supermarket checkout as the cashier handed me my change I would always say, 'Cheers!' - they used to only hear that on TV!

Which also, I observe, makes them directional (i.e. you can identify when they've been rotated), for those who are looking for something nice and easy to do with them... :D

Isn't that what artychris meant by one way marking?

Hi all, this isn't exactly a bargain - but could be if you win! Today's the last chance to enter our summer giveaway - £330+ magic in 14 prizes to be given away. You can enter at bicycle-cards.co.uk/competition - good luck!

(Mods - sorry - given the timing I didn't get a chance to check this with you - but am hoping that as a regular if infrequent poster this is ok!)

Cold Reading Co

Postby Mandrake » Sep 22nd, '14, 12:29

Email received from Julian Moore of The Cold Reading Company - a bargain offer best accepted today as the price is just 99p but rises each day onwards - Kindle format only:

    Cold Reading Games Countdown Deal!

Cold Reading Games has become a success pretty quickly, and is now one of my most sought after books on Amazon. As always, I'd prefer if more people read it so I've decided to take one of Amazon's promotional tools for a spin and as such I've put it into an Amazon Countdown Deal for the UK and USA. ( see https://dub126.mail.live.com/?tid=cmbM2 ... u0nQbgdLg2)

What it means is that the price starts off rock-bottom, and then rises slowly during the week, finally returning to its normal asking price. I've never tried one of these promotions before, so here goes nothing! Unfortunately these deals are KINDLE ONLY.

If you've already bought and enjoyed Cold Reading Games, please take a moment to leave a review on Amazon - I would really appreciate it.
So what is Cold Reading Games? Well, the idea is that it teaches just enough palmistry, graphology and numerology to help guys strike up a conversation in a social situation, without going in to too much depth. Of course, it uses principles and sections from my other books, but it isn’t just a straight copy; the bulk of the book is about how to use this information specifically in these situations, and although it’s not in-depth about each system, it is in-depth about how to use it. As such, it’s not a short read and I’ve worked hard to make it as useful as possible for those who need the help!
