Lee Smiths lecture notes are a collection of recommended, workable effects. Less goes into brilliant depth in many area’s of working a room. From your introduction, right through your act and your closing effects. He takes you through a complete working situation and the effect he has chosen for the book is just the best collection of practical effects. Most of them are incredibly simple but pack one hell of a punch. His advice comes from a real worker and is invaluable. Lee’s done a cracking job with these lecture notes and now I just want to see the lecture. He covers classics like crazy man’s handcuffs, two card Transpo and out to lunch as well as mixing things up with Switch Trick and Key to Amazement. Again every trick is clear and concise. Leaving you so much room to perfect you performance and never go wrong. As far as lecture note’s go, these are within my top 10 just for the information alone. The effects are tipping it into brilliance. A very good piece of literature from beginning to work professionally to those old pros. Bring the lecture my way Lee!

Finally found the time to work through these notes, and I can safely say it was time well spent!

Cost £10

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

I found this about a 3. Not for a total beginner at magic but theres nothing that was way over my ahead.

Review
I really enjoyed reading through these notes. The first page or two is chock full of tips on performance, presentation and the like and has some really stellar advice in there about presenting yourself, good preperation and some great stuff about burying "misses" with forces. All in all, a good few pages of useful performance tips there before you even get onto the tricks.

I wont list all the effects included in here as it has already been covered in the thread, but I will mention a few of my favorites!

Switch Trick - This is my absolute favorite from the notes. This trick is something you will definately want to take away and try out for yourself as soon as you read it.

Trans-box-ition - I had done something ever so slightly similar to this recently and the effect was good, but I've since scrapped that old way because this trick, with cards escaping from the specs hands and appearing under the card box is extremely effective. I've tried it on some friends and the reactions were very powerful indeed, a superb trick (I can see why it is a signiture trick of Lee's!)

There are several other great tricks in there, some really nice stuff with business cards, but those two are definately my favorites.

Overall
Great tricks that have been tried and tested, very dutifully explained by Lee. Really valuable advice on performance in general too, which everyone will get something out of, from an amatuer like myself right up to a pro I think. If you love good close-up magic, you will definately enjoy these notes. Plus Lee emailed me a follow up effect which takes two of the tricks and makes them so much better, which was really decent of him I think.
Worth a tenner? Definately worth every single penny. Theres alot of excellent stuff here. Thanks Lee!

Im so pleased you using some of the effects, the two you mention are porb my favourite as well.

I use them on a daily basis, both also give you the option for alternate endings and handlings, so please play aroud. And if anyone comes up with new ideas for the effects please let me know.

I have about three endings I use for the Switch trick, but would love to hear more.

Hi,

I just love Lee's style and work, all very commercial stuff. I've been fortunate enough to have 'seshed' with Lee a few times and I've seen Lee fire most of these effects in action for real people.

My firm favorites are, The Trick With No Name - Simple in plot yet very strong in effect.

Switch Trick - This is so so cheeky and is a real mind f### for laymen and magicians, love it.

Trans-box-ition - Lee's handling of this plot is outstanding, every move is covered so logically with great built in misdirection.

Just Think - This is excellent (I did this about half a dozen times tonight) love it!

The notes also have some great tips on practice, the gigs themselves plus loads of other advice which has been learned the hard way.

Great magic from a great magician.

I am very pleased to announce that based aroud the lecture material I have a 2 disc DVD set coming out (all being well due for a launch a Blackpool) with RSVP magic.

There will also be new effects and alternate handling for many of the effects in the notes, all performed in the real world, and including all the inside work on people skills, approach, and more.
