Best card cheating DVD ?

Postby BigSmile » Nov 12th, '09, 18:07

Hi.

Is there one DVD (or DVD set) that you can call the "best card cheating DVD"?

I have found some DVDs (just to name a few - in order of my interest):

Ian Kendall: Top, Seconds and Bottoms
Jason England: Foundations
Jeff Wessmiller: Weapons of the Card Shark
Steve Forte: Gambling Protection Series
Fernando Keops: Cheating at Cards
Simon Lovell: Gambling Moves
Damian Nieman: Fast Company
Brad Burt: Gambling Sleights for Magicians
Richard Turner: The Cheat (Series)
Darwin Ortiz: On Card Cheating
Darwin Ortiz: The Card Shark Series
Doc Jon: In the Life
Sal Piacente: Poker Cheats Exposed
George Joseph: Cheating At Poker
David Malek: Cheating at Hold’Em - The Essentials
Brian Tudor: Card Sharp

Any recommendations?
More good DVDs out there?

And finally to the first question/topic:
Which one is the BEST card cheating DVD?

PS:
I know that the term "best" depends on personal preferences but perhaps there is one DVD which is the favourite here...

EDIT: Another question: Which one is the BEST card cheating DVD for beginners?

why have you not included any stuff by Richard Turner, or the late great Martin A Nash?
Both have sublime material out there on the subject of exibition cheeting. Also School for Scoundrels. Whit Haydn, Bob Sheets, and Chef Anton.
Brilliant stuff, and entertaining.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Yes, I have read that you need lots of sarcasm to watch the Tudor.

BigSmile, are you looking for DVDs on actual card cheating moves, or on gambling tricks/pseudo gambling moves? I have a couple of Martin A Nash DVDs and, while he was a great performer, they are really in the latter class. Perhaps some of his others are 'the real work'.

You've mentioned one of George Joseph's DVDs, but not his ones on cheating at Gin or Blackjack, so are you only interested in Poker cheats? I don't know what it's like, but there's a David Malek one on cheating at Texas Hold'em.

There's one called 'In the Life' by Doc Jon, who apparently was a real cheat, and the DVD purports to teach not only moves, but how to handle a deck properly, and also information about the life of a pro gambler.

You might also want to consider the 'Gambling Protection Series' DVD set by Steve Forte. I don't know much about the discs, but I know the book was considered a very useful read for anyone interested in real life cheats.

Part-Timer, I am looking for instructions of gamling/card cheating moves (like second deals, false cuts...).

Many DVDs only show the moves but don't explain them in depth. For example (as I have read) the "The Gambling Protection Series", "The Cheat Series" and "Darwin Ortiz On Card Cheating".

I want to see/know the secret behind the secret. Step by step.

For now I have joind the Virtual Sessions from Ian Kendall. There you can download the CD "Tops, Seconds and Bottoms" also.
I like the stuff so far. Great (in detail) explanation. Around 40 minutes for 3 techniques. That's really cool.

But I am open to any other suggestions...

Does "In the Life" cover detailed technique explanations? Does he really teach moves there or is this more an autobiography (in DVD format  )?

Most of the gambling videos fall into the side of 'demonstrating' rather than 'explaining'. Of your list, I would suggest that Jason's stuff is the most detailed (although I've not seen it, I'm going by what I've heard).

In the Life is fascinating (or at least the first disc is, which is all I've had time to watch!). Another good place to go is Tony Giorgio's DVDs on mucking.

Take care, Ian

Hi Ian !

I am the one from Germany who joined your Sessions two days ago.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will go into Jasons DVD after I have mastered your Top, Seconds and Bottoms... :D

... and I will take a look at the other stuff you mentioned.

There are some really nice gambling routines on the Miracles of James Swain, be warned it contains the type of deals many many of us will run from.

Weapons of a Card Shack is, in my opinion, very very good. It contains so many gambling sleights, different variations, and very slow and clearly. If you can't larn from Jeff Wesiwesi, you got no chance!

Thumbs up for that one

Love

Thanks for your help.
I have just ordered "Weapons of the Card Shark". Will arrive in February. Let's see if I like it too. :)

Bump!

Fast company is very good both the tool kit dvd (volume 1 of the set) and the routines disc (volume 2) nice section on the three card monte too . Allthough of course it dosen't compare to the school for scoundrels 3 card monte dvd but that's over 3 hours on the monte.

Others have stated weapons of the card shark is very good it is but remember Jeff is not as good with his handling as Ortiz , England and some others. Speaking of England his foundations dvd is very good it covers :

Strike Second deal
Diagonal palm shift
push through shuffle (i recommend this shuffle to both cheats and magicians )
Center dealing
bottom dealing
Greek deal
Palming fundamentals
the mcmillian switch

Jason England is the guy doing the moves at the beginning of the Stallone film shade the opening is on you tube somewhere.

Ortiz's on card cheating is a bit like Richard Turners the cheat dvd basicaly you get a very skilled card technician demoing sleights but not really teaching them. I got mine in a sale for £20 so not that bothered its nice to see the moves and how they should look but thats all you will learn.

But out of all of them fast company and the foundations dvd by Jason England in my opinion are the best.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

...Jason England will also be performing in London for International Magic Lectures very soon. So anyone interested in Card Cheating etc wouldn't go wrong seeing him.
