everybody hangs out talking, and doing magic at the hotel, till stupid oclock.

Now, as to is it worth it? The answer is absolutly yes.

It is possible, ( and i know because ive done it) To do this weekend for just over 130 pounds.
you have to watch what you spend at the dealers, watch what you spend over the bar, and get yourself a reasonable b&b, rather than stay at the headquaters.
You can eat well at any of the hundreds of take aways, and resterants, and pubs in the area.

and i should say that unlike some of the bigger conventions, you get to socialise with the stars, because this convention limits it's numbers.

and if you don't know any magic folk in the N.E.

Its not just guys from the area that go. Infact, if it were, the convention wouldnt happen.It's a genuinly international convention, with international delegates.

Plus... if you leave knowing nobody, theres a problem. This lot welcome you like a long lost relation.

My understanding is the £65 includes the gala shows.

I could not get a ticket for the convention last year because I left it too late!
Being local I went to the gala shows and met up with folks at the Sea Hotel in the evenings. I'm looking forward to the whole experience this year.

Geordies are very friendly. We'll welcome anyone.

I travel up from Brighton every year for this one.

Okay, so I'm a Geordie, but I still wouldn't make the effort if the convention wasn't consistantly fab.

I am lucky as I live in South Shields so not only do I have the luxury of my own bed on the night, I also will be able to greet anyone coming up early thursday afternoon as I am off work until the following tuesday and will gladly show any TM members around the old home town.

Just wanted to let everyone who doesn't already know that the full line-up for the South Tyneside International Magic Fetsival has been annouced and if offers fantastic value for £65.

The three-day event (March 12-14) is open exclusively to practicing magicians and the most dedicated magic fans. It features a mix of master classes, lectures, dealers sessions and close-up demonstrations designed to help practitioners of all levels to network and hone their magical skills.

Performers leading masterclasses include Swedish magician Lennart Green, humourist Tim Sonefelt and American mentalist Joshua Quinn, who will be appearing in the UK for the very first time.

There will also be a very special appearance by Simon Drake, star of The Secret Cabaret and creator of the London-based House of Magic, who will be answering questions from the audience via video link.

Ticket holders for the convention also receive reserved seating at two Gala Shows which are being held as part of the wider South Tyneside International Magic Festival on Friday March 12 and Saturday March 13, as well as admission and transportation to a special Midnight Show on Friday, March 12.

The line-up for these shows includes all three of the convention’s masterclass leaders, as well as world-record breaking escapologist Shahid Malik, and comedian Brad Manuel who is making his appearance in the UK to compere Friday’s Gala Show.

Award-winning British magician Richard McDougall will also be taking to the Customs House stage on March 13 for a short talk on the state of the international magic industry, while Michael J Fitch, star of Channel 4’s Freaky Magic and the BBC show Sorcerer’s Apprentice, will present an audience with legendary magician Wayne Dobson.
