Im not sure i understand. Every cup i have seen, has them built into the cup.
If your making your own, any non neo mag will do,( Neo mags are a wee bit strong) which you can pick up all over the place. I found that Hobbycraft carry quite a huge range.

this will be down to experimentation.

I recommend that you buy a set of chop up balls and then get the right strength to suit the chopped ball Test it first to see if it atracts through a piece of wood/metal that will be similar in thickness.

Each cup and all set that you buy is slightly different so it will pay dividends to experiment a little.

Also, the size of the mag, depends on the size of the cup.
it needs to cover a fair bit of the base, otherwise you stand a chance of missing it.

as a thought, i found out that you can buy a huge sheet of plastic mag in Hobbycraft.

So it's possible that you could make a cup entirly out of it, making it 100% atractive.

though why anybody would want to, is a mystery to me

To get the best result you need to go and play with a few magnets in the shop so this is going to be dependant on where you are.

If you buy blind from the web then you may not get the results that you are after.

Google for local suppliers and phone to see if they accept visitors.
