Egg gimmick - where can I buy?

Postby V.E. Day » Mar 13th, '10, 03:33

Hello Folks,

Years and years ago back in the 1980s I read a book that explained to me how to make the gimmick for use in the Egg On Fan and Egg Appears In Brandy Glass and also Human Hen Egg From Mouth Production Tricks.
It involved all sorts of mucking about soaking an egg in vinegar for x number of days and if it happened to go right you then blow the egg and all sorts of nonsense that was doomed to failure for me back then.

However here now in modern days I notice that I can obtain a gimmick that is sold over the counter that cuts out the need for egg in vinegar soaking and blowing doomed to failure escapades. But I can only find this item sold in America, which is a long long way away. PLease does anyone know what this gimmick's official name is and where I can buy it in Great Britain?

My apologies if I haven't kept up with the times. I'd be grateful if someone could please advise.

Thank you.

They used to be called a "Weller" Egg and were god awfully hard to find for a while (I went through several over the years I love them so) I'm not positive but I believe Norm Neilson's company was making them for a while... I do recall seeing them listed in the Steven's Emporium catalog within the past year so you may check them out as well.

 Come to think of it, you may ask Eddie Burke over on that side of the pond or Viking Mfg. over here.

Thanks for your help Allen, much appreciated. I ordered the gimmick from MAProMagic as suggested and received it much quicker than their delivery time promised. I was expecting a cheaply made plastic gimmick to arrive but this isn't plastic at all - this gimmick is made from a real egg with some kind of preservative and thickening substance added to it, so I am pleased I asked here.

Thank you.

I used to make them for resale and it is a pain in the butt and time consuming. But if you want to know how just send me a pm.
