HELP ! ! ! searching for routine !

Postby gasmann001 » Sat Mar 13, 2010 6:53 am

Hi folks,

first of all i have to introduce myself. My name is heiko and im 28 y. Old. Im from germany and since today registered ;-)
first of all, im not new to that business. Im interested in mental magic for many years. Since one year im buying tricks, searching for routines, reading lots of mental stuff and so on.

there are some rare tricks i never found at any magic store, so i hope u could help me.

my idol banacheck was in the tv show "unscrewed" and performed the trick with the psychokinetic writing. This one is revealed at his psi series dvd, but he performed it in the show not with a center tear. He asked the woman only to think of any word, not to write it no a piece of paper. suddenly got a pencil an a piece of paper out of his pocket and the pencil wrote the word. Ive watched the video on youtube a thousand times, but i cant see any swami or such stuff.

could u give me a hint if the producers cut this scene or is there any trick i could buy without using center tear? i need a tutorial dvd or book which explains how he got that name...

here the link to the strange video:

i guess this will be the same routine:

Derren picking up women. how does he know about that? i never found any books bout that. cold reading? ? ? dont personaly think so...
hope u can read my english :-)

yours sincerly: heiko

I am pretty sure I know how both of them were done- I know I can replicate them exactley, weather or not it's the same method. Derren Brown was almost certainly part cold reading, part something else I'll let you discover yourself.

Naked mentalism covers "hot reading", but no cold reading I don't think. But once you've got the techniques in NM1 under your belt, you don't need cold reading! I don't know whether you could use it for what you want though, as I haven't watched the video's.

Shut up, me! There is cold reading in naked mentalism, I was just reading through it a again, and it popped up. There isn't really enough to give you a strong grounding in cold reading, but there is a nice little section on using it in naked tests.

@spoonythegoon, thx so far, but if you can copy the same effect, would it be possible to send me a pm with good books i need to learn that? i mean, i have no chance to get that information in other ways, instead spending lots of money for several books which are wrong

i can´t ask derren...so far...

would be very nice from magician to magician to get some infos where to get material about that art of mentalism.

As I've said, I'm 95% sure I know how the two effects were achieved. I could give your references, but if you remain dedicated to mentalism you will eventually come across them anyway.

To my knowledge there are only a handful of books dedicated to the said technique, but the topic which I refering to is scattered all over mentalism writings, it won't be long before you come across it.

It could be a psychological force? If so, then you might want to check out the psychological subtleties books, and naked mentalism. I'm not sure that this is how it is done, but you could certainly replicate the effect. By the way, why not just stick with the CT or s**mi, if it works? It probably has the same impact on the audience in this situation.
