I noticed David Renwick himself directed this episode. Did old Renners do the previous one too?

Have to say i was slightly frustrated by this episode, a whole lot going on and not a whole lot wrapped up at the end.

Is it just me now that Spring is here, or is there rather a lot of boobs and high heels now in a JC episode? And also, wouldn't Sheridan Smith look better WITHOUT make up? And, what did she see in James Corden?

There is some speculation, that this show suffered, because it missed the input of the late Verity Lambert. She was very much ihe driving force behind Creek, and this was the first project to happen since her passing.

Hahahaha! It's even better when you know what's coming. And when you remember the cat is supposed to be hopping up from the ground.

New Jonathan Creek

I missed the story when it was published early last month but JC is back tisi Easter:

Alan Davies is to return as magician and detective Jonathan Creek after a three-year break. The one-off 90-minute special, called The Clue of the Savant's Thumb, will be broadcast at Easter.

Creek's sidekick Joey Ross, once again played by Sheridan Smith, will also return for the special in a plot involving a secret society, supposedly supernatural events at a girls' boarding school and the disappearance of a body in front of witnesses.

Please let them throw some money at the script this time. The last one was more like a Swiss cheese than anything.

Apparently the idea was first announced in May 2012 and at that time Alan Davies said he knew nothing about it. Hopefully David Renwick has taken on board the reactions to the last one.

It was pretty terrible. I seem to remember that one plot point was that someone was lay along a low wall and absolutely no one noticed them! And if they could get Davies to stop looking so smug, it'd be nice! Good gravity, I sound like a Daily Mail reader...

I hope there's no "light relief" subplot involving the resident clown.

I hope to be watching a different channel, or reading a good book. I find this series to be utter tripe.

I just read that there's a new series of three episodes of JC starting on Friday Feb 28th. TV listings mags will give the details but let's hope these are back to the high standard of the original episodes all those years ago.

nope... all hopes dashed. Its enjoyable, but Its not Creek as we knew and loved it. Hes no longer associated with the magic world in any way, shape, or form. The one thing that made him different., ignored. Last nights episode, went down the old Columbo route, in that we knew the secrets, and the methods. we were supposed to enjoy watching him solve it. but it didnt work. and what the hell is the wanabe sherlock doing in this, other than for light comedy relief?

Just watched this and I agree with Dale, somewhat weak and disappointing. As for the wannabe Sherlock... waste of screen time really, he added nothing and contributed even less. Bring back the duffel coat, that'll set things right!

Bumpety bump!!

According to my trusty TV listings mag (What's On TV, page 98!) a new JC episode is being filmed right now with Sarah Alexander returning as Polly Creek. No clue as to the plot or possible transmission date... yet!

metro.co.uk report:

According to the official synopsis the episode – entitled Daemon’s Roost - will centre on a veteran horror film director, Nathan Clore, who wants to share the truth about horrifying events which occurred at his home, but suffers a stroke before he is able to do so.

Which is where Creek comes in, as the director’s stepdaughter Alison – whose husband our hero has previously helped – enlists his help in finding out about the building’s past, and its link to a 19th Century sorcerer who conducted some fairly grim rituals there.
