Stooges are fine and I am not above using one myself. However they also have serious disadvantages and should be used sparingly. Here endeth another lesson.

Strange, all the negative attitudes about Blaine.
If "success in magic" = "entertaining the muggles", Blaine scores pretty close to full marks.
I guess most of the furor can then be put down to sour grapes.

You are probably right.
I like David Blaine myself, I really don't understand why there seems to be so many people out there who dislike him.

Yes, quite possibly. He is definetely a skilled performer. Someone (I think it was Dale) mentioned that his apparent lack of performance IS his performance, and I agree. I think we can safely assume that he isnt this strange in his everyday life, just like Cardini wasnt drunk 24/7. It is a perfoming persona, an act.
What I dont like however is the use of certain ''camera tricks''. This is not directed solely at David, there are a few others who do this aswell. I believe that anything a Magician does on television, he should be able to do live. So apart from these instances, I have no problem with him at all.

His first special convinced several otherwise sane, rational guys who I know that he was NOT using tricks to achieve his levitation, card thru window, quarter bite, ACR, 360° wrist etc etc. If you can make sensible adults believe you are in league with Satan or have some voodoo thing happening (and without making any such claim), job done. Not many have achieved that.
